It's like lookin at men(2010) vs boys (2016)
Dave East, G Herbo, and Denzel Curry all have genuine lyrical ability and fairly good music :whoa:
I guess Lil dikky too, but I'm still not over that line he wrote where he said he'd try to fukk Michelle Obama :rudy:
You're right though, the average age of the rappers on the cover this year had to be like 20 :mindblown:

2009 is the best class they'll ever have. In my eyes, it's the last real class that covered all bases whilst still maintaining credibility as far as being revering people that were lyrical.

Sure, none of them are superstars (Wale & B.o.B are the only ones who've had mainstream success) but they've all got good bodies of work (for the most part) and they were the front runners of the Internet mixtape era.

- Blu is a top 5 talent of all time and he (as well as Dirty Science) laid the foundation for TDE to flourish.
- Mickey Factz is an elite lyricist.
- Asher Roth is dope but got a raw deal by his label trying to market him as a frat boy
- Cudi has a cult like following
- Wale's debut album is one of my favourite projects from that era
- Charles Hamilton could have been so much more
- Corny music aside, BoB can rap his ass off and made good mixtapes
- Currensy dropped projects with Alchemist and has a loyal fanbase

They you have Ace Hood and Cory Gunz that had mild mainstream exposure and are respectable artists in their own right.

Forget that part then. The man looks and seems way older I guess :yeshrug:

He was still reasonably in the game as K Dot before he was a rookie so I stand by that part.
At the XXL cover, Jcole running late,if he dont show up think i can take his place? Lady starts laughin'

Compared to 2010, most of this year's nikkas are teenagers or barely turned 20. And it clearly shows that fact in all of their music sounds. No wonder music the past couple of months sounds like :scust:

The '09 class was my favorite. . .none of them were anything alike and they all had their own unique artistry!

Kid Cudi - Curren$y - C.Hamilton - Blu - A.Roth - etc.

I mean when I heard Blu's 'Soul Amazing', I thought homie was Jesus Christo reborn! One of the illest mixtape/albums I've EVER heard to date.

The year to year list has been on a slow decline since 2010 (IMO)

My fav one too, 2010 comes in 2nd
