i didnt read any of the game thread, so if this has been discussed there i misssed it. say schwartz doesnt throw that flag. the texan coach sees it was a close play, so he chucks the flag out there. by rule, he gets a 15 yard penalty, but his team gets an automatic td? :wtf: WHAT IN THE fukk IS THAT STUPID RULE?. any coach should just chuck that fukking flag out when his team gets a close turnover or his team scores a close td, and it is automatically upheld. might be the dumbest rule i have ever heard of, and that includes the tuck rule, and the calvin johnson catch rule

Nah....schwartz knew the rule and he still threw the Flag. Notice how he threw the flag even before dude made it to the end Zone.

But the way the rule is worded a coach can just throw the challenge flag after his team scores a td, and it automatically negates a challenge, this ensuring the team a td and all it costs is a measly 15 yards on the kick. It is the dumbest fukking thing I have ever seen

Yes that rule is confusing .:win:

:ohlawd: why?

scoring plays bring a review by official automatically...the same result you'd get from tossing the flag

why toss the flag when the scoreboard already throws the flag for you :whoo:

if i was an owner of a team and u were my coach, i'd fire your ass for wasting time outs

I haven't read the rule, but the way Simms explained it, the rule says that the coach who threw the flag can't benefit from the review. So if the Texans threw the flag, the play could and would still get overturned.

What I don't get is I swear coaches used to throw the flag all the time in the last 2 minutes and I've never seen this rule enforced....when was this rule put in place?

Stupid fukking Rule
"Section 9 Instant Replay INSTANT REPLAY The League will employ a system of Instant Replay Review to aid officiating for reviewable plays as defined below. The following procedures will be used: Coaches’ Challenge. In each game, a team will be permitted two challenges that will initiate Instant Replay reviews, except for plays when the on-field ruling is a score for either team, an interception, a fumble or backward pass that is recovered by an opponent or goes out of bounds through an opponent’s end zone, or a muffed scrimmage kick recovered by the kicking team. A team is also prohibited from challenging any ruling after the two-minute warning of each half, and throughout any overtime period. Each challenge will require the use of a team timeout. If a challenge is upheld, the timeout will be restored to the challenging team. A challenge will only be restored if a team is successful on both of its challenges, in which case it shall be awarded a third challenge, but a fourth challenge will not be permitted under any circumstances. A team may challenge an on-field ruling up until the next legal snap or kick. If there is a foul that delays the next snap, the team committing that foul will no longer be able to challenge the previous ruling. No challenges will be recognized from a team that has exhausted its timeouts.A team that is out of timeouts or has used all of its available challenges may not attempt to initiate an additional challenge. Penalty: For initiating a challenge when a team is prohibited from doing so: Loss of 15 yards. Replay Official’s Request for Review. After all scoring plays, interceptions, fumbles and backward passes that are recovered by an opponent or go out of bounds through an opponent’s end zone, muffed scrimmage kicks recovered by the kicking team, after the two-minute warning of each half, and throughout any overtime period, any Replay Review will be initiated by a Replay Official from a Replay Booth comparable to the location of the coaches’ booth or Press Box. There is no limit to the number of Referee Reviews that may be initiated by the Replay Official. He must initiate a review before the next legal snap or kick and cannot initiate a review of any ruling against a team that commits a foul that delays the next snap. His ability to initiate a review will be unrelated to the number of timeouts that either team has remaining, and no timeout will be charged for any review initiated by the Replay Official."

this is the vague as fukk rule. by that wording, either coach can throw the flag and negate the review, thus enabling the call on the field to stand. phil simms was just as confused as the rest of america, and probably just blabbing what some assclown official was telling him in his headset. the rule states zero about any "benefit from the review" nonsense. what is stopping coaches from just throwing the shyt out there when they recover a fumble that was close? whats stopping a coach from throwing the flag out when they award his team a td, but his guy might not have had both feet down. fukk the review, throw the flag, kick from 15 yards deeper, and you get 7 points on the board

Dumbest thing I've ever seen. Not a fan of either team, but this was just ridiculous. The NFL should be embarrassed by this. The play had to be reviewed but because the coach threw his flag, now it can't be reviewed. WHAT? THAT'S INSANE!

Honestly the dumbest shyt I've ever seen.
