The rule came into play Sunday in the Falcons game. Coach Smith tried to challenge a fumble and it ended up fukking us over.

The rule is dumb as fukk, but Schwartz knew the rule and the consequences. You know all scoring plays get reviewed regardless and he admitted as much afterwards. Said he just lost it for a second.

Even if they had reviewed it, I'm sure it would have been upheld. They reviewed the punt where the ball clearly went off the Texans and the Lions recovered and STILL gave the ball to Houston. They would have fukked up the "TD run" too. :snoop:

this is the vague as fukk rule. by that wording, either coach can throw the flag and negate the review, thus enabling the call on the field to stand. phil simms was just as confused as the rest of america, and probably just blabbing what some assclown official was telling him in his headset. the rule states zero about any "benefit from the review" nonsense. what is stopping coaches from just throwing the shyt out there when they recover a fumble that was close? whats stopping a coach from throwing the flag out when they award his team a td, but his guy might not have had both feet down. fukk the review, throw the flag, kick from 15 yards deeper, and you get 7 points on the board

"He....cannot initiate a review of any ruling against a team that commits a foul that delays the next snap."

This is the wording that Simms was referring to after talking to the league office. Poorly worded, sure, but they did say that it means that your doomsday scenario of a coach purposely challenging would not work.

On a side note, it looks like any dead ball penalty would prevent a review. Hell, with that shytty wording, even an in-play penalty should prevent a review since it would technically delay the next snap.

It's a stupid rule, but for those saying "what if Kubiak threw the flag", I think that if Kubiak threw the flag, in the same manner as Schwartz, it would have negated the TD and cost him 15 yards.

Schwartz is too undisciplined and as ya'll can see it is reflected in his team at times. That said it was a terrible call and the rule needs to be changed. Glad we won but not happy it had to be like that. Seems like the Houston teams are always on the other end of things like this so it's kind of a strange feeling. Tough break because it was a really good game. Good luck lions ya'll are the only nfc north team I like.

The redskins brought about this rule :youngsabo:The reason they put this rule in place was to keep people from delaying the game in a attempt to decide if they would challenge or not . So it actually is counterproductive if that's the case just add the 15 yds after the review

:to: Tony Scheffler hurdled over a DB in overtime for our sins...for our season. That was our Super Bowl. We were going to beat the no. 1 team in the league in front of the world...

You don't know the pain of a Lions fan. It's not that we JUST LOSE games. It's that we find creative ways to lose. Almost every Lions game is a roller coaster of hope and defeat. They show you flashes of brilliance to apologize for losing...then they get you invested all the way up until the 4th quarter...

...then they feed you pure unfiltered ether to make you wish you'd never believed in them like, :mjpls: "You knew what this was, you naive fukkS. We're the LIONS."

"This is what we do." :youngsabo:
