Who would be dumb enough to take Perkins though. He's not someone who puts a team over the top and the intangibles that they claim he brings to a team is extremely overrated. They should have did this when they still had Harden so they could have kept him.

Ibaka was actually doing a decent job on Randolph until Brooks switched Perk to him. That was about the only thing Serge did in that series.
True that. I think they should move Ibaka to center and hopefully Perry Jones will be their starting power forward soon.

Yeah, but he rarely managed to keep Z-Bo out of position, manhandled on the boards in a lot of spots, and did what he could but there's no way around it, there's no way OKC survives a smashmouth series of ball like this ever again until they get a legit paint presence. He got some cute stops here and there, but overall he was forced to play completely out of his comfort zone. That series forced a face-up guy to play like a bruiser.

Presti will keep Perk rather than pay him to leave. We'll be at the cap even if we amnesty him once the rookies are factored in, so we couldn't go get anybody significant.
The only move made where you can call them cheap is Harden. The problem is he was never going to be the same player he is in Houston in OKC. He was still going to be the 6th man because our bench had no scoring without him. And eventually you would have been forced to break up the core anyway, Presti tried to do it when Harden's value was it's highest.
Trying to avoid the tax now might actually help in a few years when other teams are being forced to make changes to try & avoid the higher tax penalties. The tax isn't an issue as much until you're a repeating payer & the tax is even higher. Meanwhile the Thunder are still going to be a favorite out of the West with KD & Russy every year, & when other teams are forced to make changes they'll be entering their primes.
