If you want a tangible explanation for why the Oklahoma City Thunder are down 3-1 in their playoff series against the Jazz and seem destined for a first-round exit, take your pick:

1. Rudy Gobert has effectively canceled out Russell Westbrook’s ability to drive to the hoop.
2. Russell Westbrook has no jumper.
3. It’s been six months since Carmelo Anthony took a shot that didn’t clang off the back rim.
4. Paul George has let Joe Ingles into his head.
5. The Thunder are, for some reason, playing an anachronistic pick-and-roll defense that is manufacturing open corner threes for Utah
6. Steven Adams looks like he’s one more body blow away from crumbling apart
7. Carmelo Anthony hasn’t touched the rim with his hands in eight months.
8. Jerami Grant has spent far too many minutes as the Thunder’s most effective player on the floor.
9. Grim and gritty Ricky Rubio is good now.
10. The Thunder are constructed in such a way that the absence of Andre Roberson, who cannot shoot a basketball, is crippling.
11. Russell Westbrook played most of Game 4 like an angry drunk.
12. Donovan Mitchell is really good.
13. Carmelo Anthony is shooting the ball like a guy without fingertips.

But is it a reason for the sports media deliberately creating a issue between rubio and westbrook? You would figure it would be more about mitchell and westbrook seeing that mitchell has been the better player , but the second rubio has a good game it goes right back to trying to force feed rubio as a star down our throats. They been trying to do so since he played for Spain.

Westbrook made it no better with his "shut that shyt down" comment but they really made a bigger deal than they had to in the 1st place , he got a triple double on Mr triple double etc that they continued to push as a narrative. This whole thing they trying to formulate with westbrook vs rubio seems really forced and fishy.

Not only that Westbrook talked shyt at the beginning of Game 4 only to throw up a dud.

I’d say it’s more so the fact that nobody expected Rubio to shoot as well as he did in Game 3 more than anybody trying to force a narrative.

It's not forced.

Him getting a triple double and completely controlling the flow of the series is a bad look for Westbrook plays. He is a 1 on 1 player leading a team in a team sport...getting destroyed as a result.

I think it’s because Rubio is his matchup at PG. Like the guys said on TNT, Westbrook is a tier one player and under no circumstances should a tier three player outplay him.

They've been wanting to portray Rubio as a star since he was like 15.

I think that OKC can win game 5, but Donovan doesn't have the nuts to do what he needs to which is switch Grant and Melo's minutes. Melo should be playing around 15-18 mins a game.

Utah's been red hot since the second half of the season and doesn't appear to be cooling off. I had OKC winning in 6. You guys got a special player in Mitchell :wow:
