I’ve known standups in my life and I even organized a monthly comedy show at my job for a few months. Watching the difference between seasoned vets and beginners is stark.

I say that to say that I’ve got a great sense of humor but when people would tell me to do standup I push back on it because I’m aware of how hard it is to do. You gotta have timing, mic presence, good material, and mastery of the crowd. Without those elements you’ll have a very hard time.

If I were TI, I’d just organize a comedy tour and host it. Gives him a chance to practice but in limited rounds while providing the type of environment needed to actually learn and immerse himself in the craft.
It seems like you know what you're talking about.

I haven't actually heard any of his comedy. With 1 being "the worst", how would you rate him from 1-10?

Getting booed is apart of the game. TI seems like a story teller type of comedian, but just because Chapelle makes it look so easy, doesn’t mean you should be adopting that style. They have books on how to write stand up jokes. He should start there and really do it.

TI might be too sensitive for the comedy world though.

TI thought he could bring that non-comedic uninspired shyt to Brooklyn- that’s the joke
:laff::laff:
NY doesn’t listen to him as a rapper - why tf would he think this would work as a “comedian”. Long winded asf. The delivery was shyt. If it takes 5 minutes to tell the joke and explain why it’s funny, common sense should have told mush mouth that he lacks humor, to hold the L and gtf off the stage. Don’t come back either

Norfeast groovin…
That's what it seems like he's doing. He's already booked at Stardome in Alabama later this month, looks like a Tip and Friends show.

Comedy club bookers these days don't give damn how solid of a comedian you are, if you have a big following on social media you're going to get booked cause they'll know you'll sell tickets. There's enough weak social media stars and podcasters making money off of that.

If he's gonna do like Shaq and have an All Star Comedy Jam Tour to give exposure to lesser known comedians, I'm all for that. But it just comes off like this is going to be another one of his hustles.

I lowkey hate that comedy is being reduced to social media personality type shyt cuz out of that whole bunch it’s a tiny few that are actually funny. Not to mention social media and stand up are different mediums. It’s why I found Desus and Mero hilarious on the podcast and the Viceland version of their show but now under a more traditional late night format they aren’t funny to me at all. It’s all good if there’s a new lane built but it shows the way in which corporate interests and charts play a bigger role than actual cultural incubation and creation.

TI could just host a tour, do quick 3-5 minute bits inbetween acts, and keep it moving. I’ll even give him credit, going from an established trap rapper to a comedian is very radical but real stand up ain’t some watered down rap shyt where you get a co sign and that’s it. It’s still one of the few disciplines where you need to have talent.

It seems like you know what you're talking about.

Naw I can’t claim to know a bunch I just been around different comics and shows. And I haven’t sat and listened to TI in fact this my first time finding out he a comedian now. I’ll prolly give it a listen after work but from what everyone else is saying it sounds like he needs some practice.

Breh, it can take years to perfect a 10-15 minute set. Delivery, subject material, timing and physical acting all play a part. He’s a college ball player scrimmaging with pro’s and he expects the crowd to not know the difference? I’ll say though, he has a decent delivery but needs literally everything else. Best of luck.

That joke actually has potential. He should have punched up more instead of just saying "these hoes crazy". He could have easily flipped it where he takes the L. I mean...he drove her there in the first place right?

I'm finna shop his premise :russ:

Tbh, the only issue with TIP or any new comedian recording material is that it ain't meant for mass consumption yet. If he's pulling clout, he should pull the Chapelle "lock up their phones" clout and take his lumps.

Edit: and hire a better writer, Clifford. I'm available.

Write me a good joke, breh. I’m trying to get on my comedy shyt. I’ll get you back once I hit mainstream.
