Straight hate, when you open threads in TLR about him. Like read the last few. That's the black community though.

Y’all ain’t gonna pin this on black folks and our culture

Man he skipped lines and he famous as shyt. a lot of folks actually gave him a honest shot at first. I didn’t but a lot of people did. He even got some praise at first but now since he got booed in ny and this shyt with the female comedian that tide is turning

it is what it is

maybe he should be funnier idk

Isn’t that how it’s always been? Only difference is now everyone records it. I’m pretty sure every comedian has bombed a few sets. If he’s really committed then he’ll be alright.

Katt Williams said it's like a basketball player saying they never missed a shot

It's part of the process

I've been watching stand up for 20+ years and I understand certain basic principles that have to go into every set for example the needs to get them laughing from minute one

He needs a coach and he needs to mix in some actual jokes between his story telling that is just meh without direction

It's harder for him cause people have expectations based on name recognition

You can say it wasn't funny and there doesn't seem to be much there without it being hate :manny:

Maybe it gets better and maybe it doesn't

Wait, it's black people's fault that a rapper, who decided to he wanted to be a comedian, skipped the line and process most comedians go through and went straight to headlining and doing 30 minute sets is bombing?

Cats do know it's not normal for comedians to start off headlining in front of decent sized crowds for 30 minute sets, right?

They start off at open mics and shyt for a couple of minutes to:

  1. See if they can actually make people laugh
  2. Work on material to do 2 minutes, then 5 minutes, then 10 minutes
  3. Because club owners aren't just giving anyone without experience such a long set
If I went to a concert and the headliner was Dave Chappelle trying to sing and the shyt was trash, I'd be pissed too.

Haha this reminds me of a time I went out with this one woman…probably the most beautiful woman I ever went out with tbh. Took her to a comedy show and realistically, it was mediocre af…but rather than trying to enjoy the few good jokes there were, she just got all surly and sullen and brought the energy down further. Needless to say there wasn’t a second date.

people tend to have the wrong approach on comedy night. and a distinction needs to be made between a regular venue that has a comedy night and an actual comedians tour/advertised on a bill. usual comedy night is like get in free or $10 entry, you don't even know who is going to be on stage, there is a DJ playing in between sets... so it's more so just comedy sprinkled on top of a night out. a lot of people will just sit there with unreasonable expectations like "make me laugh :unimpressed:"

instead of enjoying themselves. i seriously doubt tip even advertised himself to be there giving and charging for comedy for people to expect so much from him.

One of the reasons a lot of comedians don’t allow phones. I saw some of the currently touring comedians when they started after beginning as internet skit people and it was the same way. Some eventually caught their footing and are now touring all over. Didn’t cross my mind to put it online though as I understood the process. I’m hoping he’s successful and continues to work. :yeshrug:
