Shootouts is one of the greatest dry snitching story telling raps of all time...

Shout out to Pierre the gunslinger who n1ggas hadn't seen in a year and R.I.P. to Havoc's brother Killer Black who was always the first to let off...

And how can you forget all the b1tches, playing the benches with ill extensions?

And Frank who lost what a Rollie cost?

Martin Scorcese blew an opportunity to win another Oscar by not turning Shootouts into an adapted screen play with Nicholas Pillegi

:wow:

never cared much for the beat. im struggling to recall those references. also, Scorsese, like Nas, is a bit of an overrated Hack in his later years.

this post blew my mind. all this time I thought nas really was a backpacking bboy and come find out, hes really a crime novelist who believes hes the main character. interesting.
:wtf:

Dudes main theme for most of Illmatic was Scarface...

The n1gga's first song on Illmatic had the line "Having dreams that I'm a gangster, drinking Moet holding techs"

Just because Pete Rock and Large Pro were doing the beats instead of Trackmasters and Dre doesn't mean that he changed..Some Illmatic fans just had a romanticized version of who they were listening to...

Wow at this comment. Its like you literally ignored the last 18 years.

"Crime novelist" is a waaaaaay more accurate description of Nas music than "backpacking bboy"

How can you listen to a dude that starts the first bars of his debut with

"I'm like Scarface sniffing cocaine, holding an M-16"

then goes on to say

"Whenever frustrated, I'ma high jack Delta"

and think...

"I bet he really loves break dancing"

Cant decide honestly

Both albums were seen as dissappointments by heads when they came out, but the greater public still dug them and in retrospect I think they both classic. Definetly two albums that influence by younger years of music though

"Fatal not fictitious." :wow: Esco was on some other shyt. I've said this before on here, but IWW was the greatest balance of style and pure lyricism I've ever heard.
quouted for the fukking truth

escobar era nas is unfukkwitable

the style, the slick lines. the wittyness, every verse he dropped during the escobar era is classic
