Funny how Living Single never gets these comments and Kyle did the same jokes but both Pam and Max were considered desirable in both shows.
because it wasn't about pam

it was about their hate for gina

they didn't have a clear object of hatred on living single

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Being nappy headed and ugly and rough was synonymous with being dark skinned. Pam got plenty of them Jokes.
nikka every character on Martin wanted Pam except Martin. Cut this sensitive ass shyt out. Gina got flat out color jokes against her. Martin himself even used to joke on her body. And act like she and her family was bougie. All of that shyt. Martin’s mom loved Pam and hated Gina as well. I’m starting to think u nikkas didn’t even watch the show like that.

Cold scene btw… decent analogy too :ehh:

I do not disagree
I was tryna chop with a woman a couple weeks ago. She was sending mixed signals.
I look at it like this: if she is really down, she will be down and you will know.
All that mixed signals shyt been out the window over here.
She either choosin' or cruisin'.

As a millennial, I absolutely hate how my generation has ruined comedy by constantly projecting our insecurities onto things that were made for us to laugh at.

I don’t know how anyone (who isn’t miserable) can rewatch Martin and think the banter between Martin and Pam was rooted in colorism. Especially when Tichina Arnold was clearly the best looking woman on the cast.

Except the woman playing Max said otherwise. That it wasn't direct, but a lot of the jokes in hindsight are things that would cross her boundaries now and that she understood the girl's point, that nobody was PURPOSELY engaging in colorism, just that it was kind of baked into the content, A LOT OF THE CONTENT across the board back then and that she would be much quicker to speak on it now.
