I'm just curious as to why they're using the 3 million paid subscribers number as their denominator when you could stream it without being one.

Wouldn't they need to know how how people signed up for the free trial?

All subscription services do that, including Spotify.

I'm seeing more website bashing about what Tidal is doing than any other music service. When was the last time someone posted a headline about Google Music, Apple Music or Spotify. It's like a weekly occurrence on sites like The Verge for example. I really think they are trying to push a black owned service out.

Of all the 4 streaming services, Tidal seems to be the only that gets negative press constantly, I wonder why :mjpls:

For something to be exposed...the true numbers would have to have been leaked/released

Evidence & proof are not the same thing.

This is evidence of lying, something that Jay-Z is not a stranger to.
We all know that Jay used to buy his own albums to increase numbers.

I doubt they'd outright lie about the numbers, but it's likely that they're counting every time someone clicked on a random track on the album towards that figure. Otherwise, the numbers are just silly

If they are streaming their own songs/paying people to stream their own songs then the numbers are still real, the numbers aren't a lie. They're just made through questionable means. Charting high is essentially just a commercial for most artists/the album. If it looks popular it becomes popular. It's partly bullshyt but, it's pretty standard.
