No pressure = No clutch

Pressure is what makes clutch, clutch. If the game is tied and the game doesn't depend on whether you make it or not it's not clutch, breh.

That's clutch. You miss, you lose.

Man shut the fukk up lol

:patrice: Are you saying if a player makes the last shot that ultimately determines the final outcome of the game is not clutch???

@Brooklynzson Can we get a sub forum called The Padded Room to quarantine all the clowns and weirdos?

Seriously, dude just made a HUGE shot to win a playoff games, and we get threads this stupid in response? Who in the NBA would ever have this fukkery other than Lebron. When Rose made that shot 2 days ago, did anyone start a "tie game buzzer beaters ain't clutch thread".

DRose doesn't have that 'clutch or not' argument and threads made of him. But the point remains. His shot wasn't clutch either.

I kinda see what OP is saying. The pressure isn't the same as if it was to tie the game or if the team would lose if he missed. Either way it's still clutch.

Looking at it from a simple game theory perspective...

Game Is tied, you shoot a shot.
Outcome A = it goes in and you win.
Outcome B = it doesn't go in and the game goes to OT.
Outcome C = you do nothing and the game goes to OT <--- i think this is what makes it not as much pressure.

Team is down and you need a shot to tie
Outcome A = it goes in and you tie. Game goes to OT
Outcome B = it doesn't go in and you LOSE

Team is down and a made shot will win the game
Outcome A = it goes in and you WIN
Outcome B = it doesn't go in and you LOSE

Exactly. That's why this is a terrible thread.

That's the debate I'm making, though, gentlemen.

It's not clutch either way because that makes 'clutch situations' is the pressure that comes with it.

There's more pressure with a free-throw when the game is tied than a FG attempt.

No pressure = No clutch

If missed, it's as inconsequential as a missed shot in the 1st quarter. the game goes on.

That's not pressure.

In that shot is the ability to end the game. The consequence is prolonging it. In the 1st quarter, the game was going to go on anyway. In those last few seconds? You have to close it.
