nah. Earl did everything to make Tiger what he turned out to be on the golf course. He already had 3 kids from a previous marriage that obviously didn’t work out.

He might have had chicks on the side here and there but dude wasn’t super sloppy about it and Kultida played her position and stick with him til the end.

At some point Tiger and Earl had create some legit boundaries for the sake to Tiger coming into his own. Kinda like Lewis Hamilton and his father defining their own lanes so that the father-son relationship didn’t get destroyed.

But Earl was also a strict military dude who didn’t fukk around so of course young Tiger just wanted to be a kid and not be 24/7 mister golf. Either way, he had a plan for his kid from day 1 and achieved it. He put up with a lot of bullshyt along the way like getting kicked off course just for being black.

If you know anything about earl woods you’d understand. Actually, his success and downfall were predictable. Though it is astonishing he won a master after those back surgeries. He just had like his 5th or 6th this week. His later years are going to be hell.

His dad was a whoremonger and a drunk. His sole interest was creating a golf phenom - which he did but he also created a whoremonger and a drunk/drug addict (see first sentence). His family was broken up (in part cause of his dad's cheating) and he both idolized his father and blamed him for the broken family and the womanizing. He eventually made up with his dad but still harbored clear issues due to that, and after his father died he basically fell apart emotionally and tried to drown himself in women and military fantasies instead. Was doing a lot of crazy shyt with Navy SEALs and basically training like he was going to become a SEAL, which is what led to all the injury issues and probably contributed to the pill-dropping. There's some other stories too, about his social awkwardness and insomnia and shyt, that give the impression that he was always trying to deal with a lot of shyt he never learned to deal with.

Like imagine if Tiger had a Maverick Carter that could arrange private parties away from the view of the paparazzi, or a homie to chat about life with instead of a skeezer. A loner like Tiger with much temptation available was eventually going to fukk it up.

It looks like a lot of it had to do with Tiger not having his own identity or sense of self either. Who the fukk else would be getting their ass beat by Navy SEALs at any point in their life let alone in the prime of their athletic career? That is not even close to normal or sensible.

Let's be real....Tiger issues aint really as deep as this doc tried to make it seem.
The biggest issue Tiger had is he grew up isolated with his best friend, his mentor, his disciplinarian all being the same person.
Other than that aint nothing wrong with that man.

He got addicted to pain meds after injuring himself...a whole country deals with opioid addiction. Aint nothing special.
He had a midlife crisis and wanted to be like his pops the only man and friend he ever knew so he used the resources he had ($) to live that. People with money do that shyt all the time.
He's just a victim to what we see in this country all the time, an image and brand or perfection is built and people buy into it then the curtain is pulled back and we realize these people are just like us normal folk.

The 2nd half of the doc was kinda wack imo.
