Yep. He envied how Earl had such tight relationships with his old Green Beret buddies. Tiger wanted that camaraderie but it's hard to do that when you're a billionaire golfer that didn't fight in wars.

He broke his body down and it's sad because dude didn't have to do all that shyt.
I remember reading about how he went out to dinner with those guys. They were buying big ass steaks, drinks and shyt…probably buying the most expensive shyt thinking that Tiger was gonna pay.

…then at the end of the dinner...waiter/waitress comes up and ask who to make the check out to.,.and this breh Tiger said …“…separate checks” :mjlol:

Those brehs were probably thinking “oh shyt we’re eating good tonight, Tiger paying!!!
:blessed:“ then went home like :stopitslime: + :francis:

But yeah, with regard to training with them…I think it was some weird psychological trauma…like he was trying to be closer to Earl and make his spirit proud by doing it.

Nah, him going out and doing green beret and special ops training and being a sex addict and shyt hurt Tiger.

Don’t blame the equipment. He was sonning dudes by 10 strokes with that very same equipment. Wasn’t until he literally started training like he was going to war when shyt started to go downhill.

It can be both. Pretty much everyone associated with golf was saying how trash those clubs were. It was common knowledge.

If Tiger had top notch equipment he would have won even more as hard as that is to believe.

Thats not gonna get you a basketball deal or a 2023 deal in 1996 breh. You acting like Jack had some huge Nike deal. When you break new ground that doesnt always translate financially.

Thats my point. Before they became Nike they were more likely to do more talent friendly, frankly desperate, deals (see: Magic and Haywood). They were the shyt in the 90s. Therefore they had no reason to buss it open for a golfer. But he had every reason to connect with THE brand of the time. And what was his leverage? Its not like there were bidding wars over young black golfers back then.
Nike also had Moses Malone and Geroge Gervin on its basketball roster when Jordan signed and they didn't get those deals.

Jordan made them the shyt.

Tiger did the same thing for golf. To come away with a half billion dollars when he was the biggest brand in all of sports, not just Golf, is an underpay. Also, the audience for golf has way more money than the audience for basketball, etc.

Either he got bad advice from his rep or nobody else was offering a better deal. And I think we woulda heard by now if he got a better offer and passed on it. You don't get paid in the moment from and unprecedented shyt that couldn't be predicted. We cant use 2023 eyes on a deal from 1996.
