This is so true. When I was younger and knew better I was always driving 4-5 Hours from my folk's house to get home after 2am.
Not anymore. I try not to have to drive more than 1 hour at a time after 10 pm.
The sad part is all my friends were giving me advice on how to stay awake driving.
(pull over "when you feel tired", lick your arm and stick it out of the window... Etc)
It should be obvious how little effort it takes to get distracted while driving when you are wide awake.
How many people on here have gotten stuck in traffic on a portion of your commute where you never get held up and suddenly look out and realize you don't remember actually getting there? Our bodies do things - even dangerous things-sometimes on auto pilot.

Yep I remember about 7-8 years ago I totaled my car on expressway. About n hour drive & 15 min from crib I fell asleep & crashed into median. Not a scratch but coulda easily been another outcome
