I said earlier in the thread, but I think he'll be back.
For some reason, people--from literally the moment he raised his arms in triumph--have been acting like the 2019 Masters win was the end of his career, a story book/fairytale ending, whatever you want to call it
But they overlook the fact that the leadup to that, in his 2018 season, was filled with fantastic golf. He was back to the top of the field, he could have won the damn FedEx cup in 2018.
The back procedure he just had hopefully bought him another handful of years at that level of play--which, again, was good enough to win the damn Masters.
This injury will no doubt set him back, but its his right leg (thankfully.) For a right handed player, the right leg is going to be the one with lesser pressure on it during the swing, as it is not the rotational axis of the swing. In 2008, when he won the US Open on a stress fracture and torn ACL, that was in his LEFT knee--which shows the insane amount of torque he puts on it. He also has a very handsy swing, based on his interlocking grip, and has always used way more wrist flex than a lot (most other) guys on tour, which is how he hits those amazing high draws that move left to right almost like a shank. If he had broken his wrist/wrists, he would be in a much much worse situation, especially with how small and delicate those bones are, and how they reverberate with every swing.
I've seen 3 PGA events live, 2 with Tiger, 1 without. Casual golf fans can't even begin to imagine the advantage Tiger has just showing up to the course. I get goose bumps just writing this, no homo, but when Tiger is playing, you know it. 95% of the fans there are there to see HIM. Period. They are lined up 4, 5, 6 deep on every hole, and while the Marshalls will hold up the "quiet please" signs, as soon as the ball is in the air, the crowd goes wild. It impacts every single player out there, because the fans are reaching over the ropes, crawling over each other, singing, shouting, chanting, cheering, all day long just for Tiger. Every other player out there has to deal with that when they're putting, addressing the ball, etc. That's to say nothing of what happens when they're actually competing with him. Rewatch the 2019 Masters. Specifically the 12th hole. When Molinari got wet, the crowd cheered. I guess the best analogy would be, Tiger has home field advantage every single time he tees it up. And that was before his comeback... you used to be able to find, maybe, 25% of golf fans who didn't like him, thought he was bad for the game, whatever. Now? Every golf fan loves Tiger, because he's humanized. Even the other players know he's been through some shyt.
He wants 18 majors. He's wanted 18 majors since he was a little kid. He had pictures of Jack on his wall, because he's been gunning for that number since day 1.
Its disrespectful the way people act like "well, now that he had that amazing win in 2019 he can retire and spend time with his kids."
Like, he just lapped the damn field, you KNOW what his goal is, he's gonna be right back out here trying to win majors. He might only play majors, sure, we might not be seeing a lot of Honda Invitational trophies in his hands going forward, but if he plays 5 more years at this level, thats 20 majors he's competing in, to win 3 of them. This year might cost him all 4 majors, and he might only have 16 left to try to get to 18, but thats still a lot of high quality golf he intends to play.
And... I'm telling you... July is still 5 months away. He might be playing in the Open........ we'll see....

I wanna be optimistic and say 4 years I hope wish and pray it's 4 years. Remember he is eligible for Senior tour when he turns 50 in '25 . Honestly at this point a return to golf is bigger then anything. This guy is blessed to be alive. 15 majors or 19 he will always be GOAT golfer

Yeah I was at his first tournament(AT&T National) which was held at Congressional in 2007, that shyt was crazy energy. Seeing him up close and that laser focus he had was pretty awe inspiring I can't lie

After reading the whole thing, the conclusion is that he was trying to rush to meet up with Drew Brees and the event, he was an hour away and the meeting was at 7:30, he left at 7. That road has had fatal accidents before and is pretty dangerous if you are speeding, especially if you are not used to the area. He is very lucky that he is alive, I hope he can recover fully and be able to play if he wants to.
Also kind of crazy that Genesis was sponsoring his event and promoting that same car this weekend

Yeah we got lucky to park in one of the lots and caught a shuttle, cost a lot but I will say the food was surprisingly cheap......kinda bland but that's to be expected
