Unless he announces his retirement in the offseason then he will get a farewell tour. Kobe didn't ask for one either but you don't really get a choice. People just want to pay respects to a legend.

That's what he's saying. It's not the norm, at least it wasn't at one point until Jeter and Kobe did it, to announce ur retirement before the season. It's extremely see through when it's done that way, honestly I can't blame anyone who does it that way though, superstars who were the center of attention for 15-20 seasons want that last hurrah of being adored by people.

He doesn't deserve one.. He was never face of the league, never was box office, didn't bring in new fans, wasn't a factor internationally, didn't shift the culture of basketball, has 0 memorable games or moments and has been a role player last 7-8 years :yeshrug:

Might as well give a farewell tour to Garnett & Andre Miller as well

How are you putting Andre Miller in the same sentence as Garnett and Duncan? If Garnett and Duncan wanted a farewell tour they'd get it, not on the same level as Kobe but they'd get it. And Duncan did shift the culture of basketball, after Jordan it was in danger of becoming straight iso/hero ball, thanks to Duncan (and Lebron to an extent), and the Spurs overall as an organization we have unselfish team basketball again.

Clearly most of you dudes have been watching basketball since 8th grade so for about 5 years now.

You don't need a farewell tour. That's some shyt reserved for dude's like Kobe or MJ (not bc they need one but because of their massive egos). Peyton Manning literally just retired after he WON the super bowl. TD is a top 10 player all time that has contributed a ton to the NBA. He'll be very missed among real NBA heads, the same way Kobe will be.

Duncan never drew strong emotions from the casual fan and people don't pay money to watch him play, so I doubt people would be clamoring to see him play his last games.

His game and personality aren't conducive to that. I mean, the guy just scored 0 points last night. He's clearly a cog in the system now.
