Tim Tebow comes from a fairly privileged backround so really he's talking from an Ivory tower. A lot of these players have families to feed and should get some compensation or at least be allowed to get endoresments etc.

I do wonder how coli militants can reconcile wanting top athletes to go to HBCUs but also want these student athletes to get paid because they'll all go to the richest schools once that starts happening

Exactly. People don't even try to be consistent. They love to point to the scholarship as compensation. Why is that not good enough for the coaches and ADs? I never hear anyone suggesting that a salary commensurate with the cost of tuition is good enough for the coaches. I even suggested once that coaches should have to be students, just like the players. That sounds wild, but for some reason that set up is perfectly okay for players.
