You dont see the impact pharrell and chad had on the culture ? :mindblown:

Swizz on the other hand :ehh:
Dude is clutching onto that 1999 - 2004 era for DEAR LIFE, music industry is full of cornballs:mjlol:Missy Elliot made better tracks than him:comeon:

:dwillhuh:

And how come nikkas are coming in here without even watching the video, complaining about timbo's top 5 list.
Its his top 5 after all.

Timbo made nikkas change the whole soundscape of the industry at least 2 or 3 times.

why does this board hate swizz so much?

in terms of just rap beats, i'd take swizz over all of those names except dre.

its simple.

because timbaland is NOT a hip-hop guy.

Timbaland is just as a Hip Hop as Swizz or Pharrell, if not more. Definitely has more quality beats than Swizz even prime Swizz.

He's a pop producer so it's a pretty reasonable list. I've never held him super high as a hiphop producer as some seem to do, not top 10. Modern Pop/RnB producer, probably top 5.

For those that like to just :pacspit: on producers for commercial success just because, I'm going to drop this in here from a legend:

Do you ever feel limited in by people calling you and wanting that signature DJ Premier sound?
Nah because I know that they know what that sound and the name attached gives them, so I get it. On top of that, it's fun to do all styles of what I do ... I don't want to be just a hip-hop producer. I want to do a Miley Cyrus record, an Eminem record, an Iggy Azalea record because my version of that sound isn't gonna come out fukked. That's how much I worry about my name as an artist. When I go in with any artist part of my job is to make sure that it comes out way more than right. Jay Z and Biggie and Nas always listened to my direction. They listened and they applied it and I also listened to their opinions and that's why the records came out so good. They didn't come out because of luck … we're all good at what we do but it's also us all knowing when it's a good record that's ready to leave the studio. That's what I like about Dr. Dre, he said "I don't let nothin' leave the studio until it's really really ready."

DJ Premier Talks Kanye, Disclosure, and That One Time He Walked in on Biggie Eating Fried Chicken in His Boxers | NOISEY

^^^ and no I don't value Noisey on anything, but this isn't their opinion. These are DJ Premier's own words. So in essence, when you look at Timbaland's list, it isn't a list of producers who exclusively produce Hip Hop. It's a list of super producers, who are versatile enough to step outside of the realm that are known for. What's funny is that the Pop and R&B artist who tap Timbaland, Pharrell, etc. for production want a Hip Hop sound and what typically sounds like a Pop/R&B record. It's like someone calling Quincy Jones a Pop or an R&B producer just because his biggest records are with Michael Jackson, which completely ignores his roots in Jazz.

I'm not gonna act like Timmy didn't give great music to the game ...but subtract jiggas run and things get sketchy for Tim for me:francis:

He is a talent ....that can't be denied, but he turned really corny trying to attempt to keep that megastar producer swag after Jay started choosing just blaze, pharell and yay for most of his beats. It's like after a while j only chose his shyt for friendship/nostalgia/legacy reasons. He did lace JT in 2002...but that was pop rnb, I just don't think Tim is on a level to leave someone like Marley or primo out...two guys who span YEARS of doin it with a VAST number of artists they fed. Tim stays givin props to producers during his small 5-6 year hay day...nobody else, as tho quik, daz, Pete rock, dilla, battle cat, q-tip, RZA, havoc, alchemist, dude from badboy who fathered ye' and easy mo B and others hadn't been lacing not only hip hip but rnb for decades(did I forget to mention the dungeon family producers:jbhmm:). Hip hop for him begins in 97/98 and ends 03/04...and that's clearly false. He knows better.

What makes you think he's talking finance?

because he listed nothing but commercial radio producers.

nothing wrong with that, since hes one of em. i could've told you that was his top 5 before i even clicked on this thread.

anybody who expected anything more from a timbaland top 5 is playing themselves. the jokes on them.:pachaha:

Because he is hip POP...not hip hop....nelly furtado and Justin Tiberfake ...fukk outta here corny nikka....Scott Storch was right:camby:
