popularity & money grabs aren't necessarily the same.

I didn't say "nikka what" wasn't street. but it wasn't poppin like those swizz tracks.

nothing.

you threw that statement in out of nowhere.

that's why I asked, who you were referring to.

.......and now we're back to square one.

If an artist is droppin' a song as a money grab, I'm pretty sure they want it to be popular or else they make no $$$$ from it.

"nikka What, nikka Who" is more classic than "Money, Cash". "nikka What" was one of those songs that you memorized (or attempted to memorize) and especially get the flow correct. That song was more popular in the streets from the lyrics down to the production. It's still a staple in Jay Z's live performance now. The only real competition that a Swizz production provided is "Jigga My nikka".

Not even trying to get into the debate regarding the recent Jay-Z discography in this thread, but anybody have the amount of listens on Tidal/Apple music for his songs by Just Blaze/Timbaland/Pharrell?

I can't have the listens, but on Apple Music, 4 out of 12 of Jay Z's top songs are Timbaland productions and none of the Pharrell or Just Blaze joints show up.

In other words, you don't really have anything substantial to support your argument, so you revert back to posting stock responses. You're definitely not in any streets.

I was responding to you trying to pull chit out your ass........which is somethin that you always do when YOU cant support your argument.

and its not even an insult. youre just not in tune with streets bro. not your lane.

btw, we're still waiting on a LOGICAL explanation as to how big pimpin elevated jay's career when the previous album was much bigger. you got off of that quick when other people started calling your bluff. AGAIN, an example of you trying to pull chit out your ass.

No, you did what you always do which is try to imply that someone "wasn't around" when you don't really have an argument.

Breh, quit hiding behind the streets because you clearly aren't in them either. The Internet and most importantly, your imagination =/= the streets.

I've already explained "Big Pimpin" and I did not abandon that argument. In fact, I supported even when other people came at me trying to argue otherwise. They, like you, attempted to minimize "Big Pimpin" as some single that was hidden underneath bigger singles, when at the time, the song was one of Jay's biggest songs. Same was said of "Dirt Off Your Shoulder", which is bigger than "Big Pimpin". When I came back with the proof to support what I was saying, crickets...

but you weren't around. and I already stated my argument.

I clearly wasn't in the streets how? this should be good.

you didn't support your argument. the most you did was list some charts. and you did so while comparing unofficial singles with no video to big budget singles aimed for mainstream appeal.

I was around. I remember that era quite well. The only Jay Z joint produced by Swizz that made noise in the streets like that is "Jigga My nikka".

A chart is a tangible stat and not me going off of emotion or being bias because I feel some type of way about an artist/crew. What's funny the charts I posted had nothing to do with unofficial singles with no video.

SAN ANTONIO SPURS NY DIVISION
Money Cash Hoes/Jigga My nikka were organic bubblers..

That shyt was on every bootleg in the streets...

At least in NYC, nikka what nikka who was nowhere near as big as those 2 swizz joints..Its not even up for debate

The problem with billboard is it dosent always correlate with whats actually going on in the streets of every city..

Im assuming there is a regional difference here....

From NY to at least Philly....those 2 Swizz joints shut it down...

I want to even say its like Noreaga when he dropped...You would thing the What song is bigger, but Banned From TV was a monster on the streets

I wanna say The N.O.R.E. joint was too, but im too young to fully recall...

But Banned From TV/Jigga My nikka/Money Cash Hoes were some HEAVY street Bangers

And see that's the other difference. What was heavy up top doesn't always mean that those joints were heavy down here (at least not "Money Cash"). I'm from the South. I wasn't even going by Billboard to back up "nikka What, nikka Who" being bigger. I was more so talking about the impact. That beat and the flows on "nikka What nikka Who" were bigger than both Swizz joints. I mean, The Source even put "Money Cash Hoes" in it's Top 25 beats of all time at #25 and had "nikka What, nikka Who" sitting at #10.

"Money Cash Hoes" wasn't organic. It was a soundtrack single that got remixed and it's own video.

If my posts anger you, then you clearly have a problem. If you feel putting my posts in your sig is therapeutic, by all means, go ahead.

THANK YOU!!!!!!

and this also goes back to what i was saying earlier in this thread when i was talking about noreaga & "banned from tv". all the dweebs in this thread like @Taadow were trying to play me like I'm crazy. this board is full of L7s man. dudes is sweet.

shut up. those songs are loved down south. you aint getting off easy, trying to draw regional lines. take this L like a man.

lol @ you trying to rest your arguments on some source magazine rankings.

and lol @ "money, cash, hoes" not being organic.

btw, the original version was much bigger than the remix. and since you like to rely on industry props, your precious VMAs wanted jay & dmx to perform the song together. a song that didn't have a video and probably wasn't even a single.

I never said those songs weren't loved Down South. The point I'm making here is that nobody is omnipresent (everywhere). Where one person says this song or that song was bigger here another could easily refute it by saying "well, it wasn't in my area". That's the reason why something like a Billboard chart is more tangible because you know they actually measure things like airplay.

My argument doesn't solely rest on a Source ranking, but it's relevant because I was referencing the impact of those beats.

"Money Cash Hoes" was a single. What's funny is that "nikka What, nikka Who" was initially a B-Side to that song, but became a single of it's own and still outperformed the A-side.
