Okay, so Okafor wouldn't start over Alex Len? Omer Asik? Amir Johnson? John Henson? Joakim Noah? Gorgui Dieng? Thad Young (moving Myles to the 4)? Mason Plumlee?

I mean I'm not even the biggest fan in the world, but Okafor is clearly better than every single one of these guys in the moment. Every single one of them starts. Biyombo starts and he can't even catch a pass.

Dude catches hate because he's not Joel or Ben as a prospect. Which is okay. His biggest problems are his huge struggles on P&R defense and only average if that rebounding. He's a starter still.

It's not really about him playing the 5 or 4...he is a traditional back to the basket big man so you need to pair him with a floor spacing floor...

Him and LMA would work great together in swag antonio...well on offense on defense they would be ...

Okafor is a quality player, just need 3&D players around him to be successful. I saw a 3 trade on RealGM that involved the Sixers getting McCollum; Kings getting Vonleh and Okafor, and the Blazers getting Boogie and Skal.

If that trade happened, it would be excellent for Oak, because Vonleh has potential to be a 3&D big. The only thing about building around Oak, it's very hard to have 3&D players(those players are getting $ in FA) and have another all star player. So any team that gets Oak, needs to get any player with 3&D potential on a cost controlled deal, and then hope to get that other all star caliber player through FA/draft to have a chance at contending.

I think if you got 4 other guys around Okafor that can defend well he'd be ok, hes got some impressive moves on offense

He has to be next to a PF that can cover for him a bit, he's really not that bad of a defender and should be able to be average to slightly above average in the future. The Blazers would kill for him, the Bulls would probably help him out a lot with their perimeter defenders. People calling him Al Jefferson fail to realize Al was on a top 5 defensive team once as well.
