Capitalism is exactly why we can't have great speeds for the prices we pay:smh:

Right now in Hong Kong you can get 500mb for about 30 bucks a month:beli:

I got a seed box located in EU...

shyt gets 500mb down on average...and I mean that is getting say a full blu ray rip of season 1 game of thrones and it never goes below 500mb...

that's getting 76.9 GB in about 3 hours...:dwillhuh:

And for all the people saying "why can't I get Fios or Charter or AT&T"

There are 2 main reasons...

1. One customer already has a lock on the customer base...for example where I lived before...Verizon would not lay down FIOS lines...because the area was...according to them...about 90 % Time Warner...so Verizon figured "it is not worth it to spend x amount of man hours and x amount of money to lay FIOS down where at best we will be looking at getting it in 1 of every 10 homes right off the bat."

2. It depends on who owns the actual network in your area... For example in the DFW area...once you get out past Denton...that area of Sanger, Gainesville, and a bit of Fort Worth...Suddenlink owns all of that network...and i mean they own the entire backbone...they own the cables, the demark...they own it all...so nobody can build anything out in that area without paying suddenlink...if say time warner wants to move out to that area they have to pay suddenlink to use that network backbone...which will never happen because suddenlink will charge another ISP through the nose to use it...while already having virtually the entire customer base to start with...

Time warner already did this 50mb upgrade in the dallas area...or at least a year ago I got an email from them stating i was getting a free upgrade to 50 mb because they had updated their network...think i had a 30mb package to start with...i use a seedbox so it was not much use to me...

In the Dallas area Time Warner also has that speed boost crap that lets you download at the next paid tier speed for 15 minutes ( so say you pay for 30 down and you have speed boost then the 1st 15 min of your download will actually be at the next tiered speed which is probably 50 down ). So running a speed test would always make it seem like I had 50 down which I didn't...
