That's the plot of All About Eve that they've been acting out for us for the last few months though - why step off the train now?

Eve (Mariah) worms her way into Margot's (Toni) life as an adoring fan then manipulates the situation and people around them to steal her spot.

They've been moving towards Sunset Boulevard with Toni's makeup ever since the shoe beat-down - and if they're going to do Norma Desmond, she needs to lose everything first so things can get really dark.

Isn't long-term storyline booking what people wanted?
Just because it’s following some stories from movies doesn’t mean the wrestling storyline should follow it exactly.

Mehriah is :trash:. TK should not waste a title reign on a mid talent. Willow is more deserving of a title run than her.

Let Toni cook longer with a reign. They can still build her character with the belt on some depressing “I have it all but what exactly do I have? No friends, no family. No Luther.”

The crowd doesn’t give a shyt about May, she gets no heat, and yall want her to dethrone Toni, who is still over? Even when May was with Toni the crowd didn’t give a shyt. :gucci:

Toni's still the main character in the division whether she loses the belt for a couple of PPV cycles or not and the crowd was absolutely rabid for the turn... IWC talked about it all day the day after.

Ever since they confirmed they're doing an All About Eve/Sunset Boulevard mashup my girl has been waiting for Mariah to do exactly what she's just done - she's wanting Mariah to win at Wembley so Toni goes fully insane and we end up with a bloodbath payoff like Sunset Boulevard. She's taking a Timeless Toni Storm sign to All In, so it's not that she's a fan of Mariah over Toni - but the Norma Desmond character if that's what Toni wants to give us literally demands loss.

I can see why it passes a lot of wrestling fans by, but there aren't actually many wrestling angles that have been done THIS well IMO.

You say that but who does AEW have that can get heated up enough to get a real reaction vs Toni and believably defeat her?

We've seen it time and again that most of these women can't hold a candle to Toni with the crowd. Deeb, Deonna, Rosa, etc. were persona non grata when Toni showed up. Toni fukking murdered Deeb and Rosa with promos that we still remember today. No matter how good the matches were, it's was a forgone conclusion Toni was winning. At least with Mariah, her win can be used to evolve Toni into the next phase. No other woman can do that right now. Mariah has spent time with Toni so it works. Mariah beating Toni on the grandest stage can lead to them having a more brutal match down the line too.

Even if this Mariah-Toni story wasn't based on these two movies, it doesn't make a damn bit of sense for Mariah to do that turn only lose the first match that they have.

I think it'd be a shame unless they play out a WHOLE lot of storyline in their match like the Bloodline Wrestlemania or something. Sticking to movie plots or not it feels like they've still got a lot to play with here.

Mariah can win via shenanigans without costing Toni anything except the emotional damage she needs to fuel the next part of the story.

I got no problem with the movie stuff, but movie plots be damned, this is wrestling. Give Mariah a "short" reign and have her lose to ...... whomever. But doing so works for Toni and whomever Mariah loses to. You don't have to like/love Mariah but know that this can elevate 2 people, not including Mariah.

TSC always complaining about something lol. This been one of the better woman's feuds and both are doing a good job. If it falls flat at Wembley or we'll see but it's not looking likely.
The girl isn’t over in any sense. The heel turn was great, but nobody cared about Mehriah after that. She’s heatless. Giving her a belt will do nothing for her in regards to fan reaction.

I don’t care if the buildup was good. The crowd doesn’t give a shyt about Mehriah. You guys are too caught up with how the angle played out over the months and fail to see the crowd is :unimpressed: with May post-breakup. Stop trying to explain the storyline to me when I’m not even talking about the storyline.

Since yall got offended by my Mideon comparison, Imagine Roman losing to Sami because the angle was hot. That angle actually HAD way more fan participation and got Sami over; this is the opposite.

There’s way more talent deserving of a run instead of May.

Very hyperbolic take which is the norm for this site but I'm not against it or anything. Just when Toni and her interact the fans have reacted. She also got reactions when she was a baby. I went to show earlier this year and she was one of the more over females off little time there. I'm not as worried about her current reactions during squash matches on Rampage or Collision. The point is do the fans care when she squares off with the champ? I've seen nothing that states they don't. Now if this falls flat at Wembley then yeah TK failed but I can't conjure up a thought right now that can say that's what's gonna happen.

She’s in her home country, so of course she’s gonna get a reaction. That’s not how you base if something works when the obvious is a given.

I don’t understand how my “take” is exaggerated when the facts speak for themselves. No one cares about May. She had a great heel turn, got a reaction at the moment, then barely got any response after that. Don’t you think taking out one of the most over female talents would have her get heat long after that? :comeon:

They chose the wrong moment to turn her. If it happened this week, or in Wales, it woulda been a better opportunity to get proper reactions for her.

Either way, she’s wack in the ring, has a meh character/personality. Her promo skills are fine, but there’s better out there. Dudes caping for average talent that are slightly better than Mid Baker. :dahell:
