We've seen moments in football where if you're within a TD late in the game and you need to get the ball back, it can be good to let the other team score the TD rather than just run the clock out.

What other sports (if any) have this logic?

Patriots wanted the Giants to score here to get the ball back. Bradshaw wanted to stop and milk clock more.

Maybe it's me but in basketball and i'm up by 3 and i'm in the one and one and it's less than 10 seconds, i'm fouling and putting them on the line.

Football and basketball are the only sports really where this is applicable

Baseball, bases loaded depending on the score you'll play the infield back for the double play.

Fouling in basketball is almost the same shyt. Stop the clock, let them get 1-2 points, get the ball back.

I don't think its the same. Putting somebody on the free throw is not guaranteed points. Your putting them on the line with hopes that they don't score

It's preferable that they don't score. But if you're down 1, you are putting them on the line primarily to get the ball back by any means necessary.

The strategy is the willingness to exchange points for possesion of the ball.

What if they make the 1st and get a tip in score on a second miss to tie the game?:lupe:

I could not live with that result. If they make a 3 over good defense then:manny:
