OP has hit recognition but it will require the push from her label because hits are essentially distributed like commercials are
The remix is already a hit overseas with 76 million streams, but it looks this song was released independently by Disco Lines . Her label was dumb not to buy the rights to this. But in a sea of thot rappers and singers, this type of production makes her stand out .

The song is mid. :manny:
Tinashe has fumbled the bag way too many times.
A catchy song or ten isn't going to save her career.

Exactly. She has no complete body of work and relies on the hope that these thin ass songs will be the lightning rod to keep her career alive.

Clearly she needs a better songwriting and production team instead of writing this stuff herself but even the mid tier producers are holding out hope that they can put in work for Rihanna or Beyonce.

Look at Kali Uchis she has a whole damn lane but her voice is distinct, her look is her own thing and she can crank out songs that have some emotion to it — and it doesn’t sound like it’s for super grown ass women

I had high expectations when I first came across her music

I only liked about 4 tracks off the major label debut...then everybody said she was getting Biggie Smalls'd in Dubai and kept putting out mid and I stopped bothering to listen to anything new from her, if this is her big comeback track I think I'll keep myself out the loop

She's been making fire music for years.

You should check out Nightride, it's more on the lines of her mixtapes.
Sacrifices, Soul Glitch, Party Favors, Lucid Dreaming, Sunburn, Ride of Your Life are recommendations from there

She has alot of haters probably due to internalized colorism:respect:.

But she was projected to be the Aaliyah of her generation. Only thing that happened is the same thing i just talked about with Tyla. She had that one hit with "2 On" and then the label immediately tried to show her versatilty and make her crossover with pop records.

All they had to do was make her stick to pure RNB. She is versatile so she probably is making these choices on her own. But too much versatility too soon is bad. If your black you need to gain a core black audience first, then you can crossover.
