And once my flight benefits kick in, I'm going to Mexico, for free, so you can talk about me going alone, but I'm not the type to need someone to do something. Why am I going to bring someone with me when there's people where I'm going?

I don't know Spanish, and it'll be my first time going. If you want to go somewhere then go somewhere, why let differences stop you? People move to countries not knowing a lick of the spoken language, you just adjust and find ways around it or learn a bit of the language.
I know a girl in Mexico though, and she wants me to hit her up so she can visit me I guess, but if she bails on me, I'm still going to navigate through Mexico as I please (with the exception of some cartel stuff).

i suggest starting with a simple destinations, like las vegas or similar.
travel light - 20 lbs of stuff or less (wash clothes as necessary)
be lowkey with electronics. keep some money in wallet but hide the rest somewhere else.
plan the basics ahead of time but be willing to improvise once you are there
have one good credit card (even a prepaid will do)
meet new people just by striking up conversations with people who are also travling
you are alone so you call the shots. approach it like the last time you will ever be in this place - see what there is to see, don't hold back
