Any put together person ALWAYS has options. Just because your steak is really good doesn't mean you don't want to eat shrimp some time. Options will always be there in all stages of life for your partner, no matter how much of a trophy you make yourself to be.

I've been with my partner for almost a decade, no cheating (on either side) has occurred not because options were limited (ass a plenty in Houston) but because I picked the right person at the right point in his life.

Believe me I agree. But entertain this thought.

After a certain amount of time, lets say 2 years a guy may reach the point where he is really actually committed and sees long term. I'd bet decent $ in the first 3-6 months there was a point in time where you irked him and he at least thought about cheating with one of his options...probably because you got mad at him for something stupid and put him in the doghouse, or did something stupid yourself. The reason is that any time a guy experiences such activity, he starts losing faith in the relationship and begins to think, "Why bother being faithful when for all I know, this girl is gonna get mad at me over some dumb shyt again and then break up...leaving me with burnt bridges and missed opportunities?"

Some dudes (like women) will do mental gymnastics to convince themselves that they aren't cheating and youll never know. Cognitive Dissonance I guess. This is especially during the earlier stages. After a year or two you're in...there's no denying that youre official so you cant really rid of the guilt. Beyond that, the man will have faith in the relationship working. Not saying your man thinks like this but many do.

I myself battle with the gymnastics and havent done anything regretful yet. When i talk to men/friends who ever think of cheating, the prologue almost always features his girl neglecting him over some stupid argument/issue. So he gets it somewhere else. Like you said (which I missed until now) it is ALL about his own self-discipline and options (as I added). More options reduce discipline.
