Keep windows open after the sun goes down, overnight, and in the morning before it shines in the area.

Then close the windows, because you’re letting in hot air, and let down the shades, because the light from the sun heats the room.

But the best option is to buy a window air conditioner unit. Even if you can only afford one, it can make a major difference.

I say this as someone who inherited a house without central air, and it would be too much money and work to invest in it, because an entire duct system would have to be built, because I have old radiators, not vents. I put a window unit downstairs in the living room, one in my bedroom, and one in another bedroom, and I’m good. Keep the bathroom door closed. Keep basement and closet doors closed. Good luck!

You need to reflect sunlight on any area of your home that the sun beams on for hours. Aluminum foil on windows . Shade screen on the porch. Keep the house dark. Freeze bottles of water and sit them in front of the fan.

I just built a mancave / shed and insulated with the foil bubble wrap stuff. Its usually dark in there, that help. The shed still decent with me even having the ac on in there.

Go to Walmart and get that 5 blade Lasko fan. It’s good enough most of the time. I probably won’t even put my AC in the window this summer

I don't have A/C so I feel your pain OP.

I have a tower fan that costed me about 50 bucks from best buy. I carried the big ass box it comes in on the subway on some ghetto tip and no one gave me a second glance :pachaha:

Open windows + this fan right next to your bed should do the trick.

But window unit A/C is by far the best option, if you afford a unit plus the high electric bill. Since I don't have a job so I just go outside during the day and come home early evenings when its cooler.

I be watching all the YouTube channels that try those "As seen on TV" products and they said this is trash.:russ:
I had the larger version of it. Had to put ice in it and even was told to freeze the filter per instructions. Not even a couple hours later, my floor was wet from condensation. Took it back to Home Depot the next day.
