There was not even a "payoff" or reason for the violence. They didn't show any compelling gameplay. No new techniques, story explanation, environments, no explanation about who the characters are. Just violence.

nikkas already know what kind of game it's going to be. The game isn't coming out anytime soon, there's AMPLE time to show off game mechanics and to ask for story explanation so early like what? Obviously a trailer in a vacuum for a game we know next to nothing about will be sort of confusing or mysterious. It ain't like the game is due for release January 2018 and we're left wondering what kind of game it is.

It's why people who imo are just being disingenuous and "concerned" are a bit full of shyt because this isn't the last trailer coming out. UC4 had a first reveal with just a cutscene of him getting up and walking into a jungle at night. That didn't matter because a few months later they then showed a full gameplay clip. I suspect we'll probably see some TLOU 2 gameplay at PSX next month or if not sometime by E3 or at E3 next year.

I never tried to claim the full game would be just this trailer.

Still excited for the game but it seems like they tried a bit too hard to be edgy and get people talking. It worked but it wasn't a good way to promote that game IMO unless there's torture mechanics in the game itself

Edit: As a matter of fact the first trailer for TLOU wasn't even gameplay. I remember now.



There was nothing here but violence. A guy and a little girl. A guy gets his face smashed in, and then some monster/zombie thing gets it's face blown off. Nothing there either and it turned out to be a great hit. There wasn't even any reference to an older game so there was no "oh it'll be like Uncharted". I'm sure whoever was "turned off" then was a smidget in comparison to the amount of people who loved it.
