Yes if she’s making a play of keeping him away from his child. I’d simply make a statement that I’d like to see my child and leave it alone.

When the kid becomes older and understands he can make his own decisions.

Generally you can’t win in family court, The best thing he could do is to wait it out to the point that she wants him to see his kid.
