I WANT to get back into gaming, I just can't just muster up the motivation to do so. I have Steam and PS Now installed on my PC but I barely use them.

Teenage me would have ate GOOD off of PS Now though :banderas:

i've played over 20k matches of dota 2/hon/dota, one of my friends was the person with the most games played, ever, in the whole world for several years straight. well he quit for a couple months and i blew right past him for lifetime activity lmao. that's when i realized i'd just turned 30 and this was an unhealthy hobby so i quit cold turkey.

me and my girl are fiending that lego star wars skywalker saga right now tho

i'm liking that i'm approaching the hobby with moderation now and trying single player instead of just fiending one multi player game for years straight. like before dota i played nothing but counter-strike 1.6, and before that nothing but starcraft.

I'm in Friday the 13th lobby right now waiting for the game to load up

I still play games but nowhere near the level I used to, I can literally go weeks without picking up a controller. What really makes things worse is when you do decide to play, and it says a new update needs to be installed. When that happens I just say fukk it and turn it back off.

We've had auto updates since last gen. Turn it on

OP..

I gave up video games unofficially years ago, but didn't give them up outright because I always want the "option" to play them whenever I am in the mood..

Weird thing is that I am rarely in the mood..

I bought a Nintendo Switch to bring to work just in case I am stuck on a long lunch break and get bored, but when I bring it to work, I never play it!

Smh...

Just know this...

There will come a time where certain things will become unappealing and you will lose interest.

Could happen @ any age..

Gaming has been unfulfilling for a while now personally. But I still game and if a good game like Ghost of Tsushima comes out I’ll play it an enjoy it. Gaming lost all its wow factor with me. A game has to be very good for me to beat it. Even if a game is good most feel like chores to beat them.

I can't trust a man that doesn't play video games...

You don't have to be a hardcore gamer but gotdayum...what type man doesn't play video games? Only ones I know are nikkas the generation before me because they didn't grow up with video games (my generation was the first).

Never, for me, it's a story medium, simple as that. Playing on the OLED provides and unmatched experience that can't be found through any other medium. But I also space stuff out, so it's ~30 minutes of foreign language, ~30 minutes of reading, 40-60 mins of cycling, ~30 minutes of piano, ~30-60 of studying, not getting in super detail but you get the point. If you are playing hours on end, like I used to, you likely need to look into why you are doing that but there is nothing addicting about games, I could see how someone could get addicted to the gambling currently found in games but I wouldn't say gaming is addicting, it's more time consuming like watching TV all day or surfing the web all day.

With that said, I could never match the stories and experiences that I get from games with anything else, it's a completely different medium that I would never get rid of. That would be like asking me to drop reading or films. But I stick primarily to single player, strategy, roguelikes, and some competitive shooters. During my endless days of gaming it was MOBAs (DOTA 2) and sports games (2k + Madden) making me rage all day and hate life, I'm off of that now. And don't think I don't recognize that profile picture, OP. :usure:

edit: Plus I'm heavy into simracing so there definitely won't be any stopping at this point. I think if you put the average person into a decent sim rig, you would have a ton of people making the jump to gaming solely though that. Especially when you combine it with VR.

Example:

Stopped playing video games after college. But always amazed at the advances in the industry.

That video you posted is incredible.

I do have it on, if it's a game that doesn't get played often then it won't automatically start up. I was saying that i'll turn it off so that it can update faster. As for Friday the 13th, I recently played it again after not playing it for months and was surprised at how packed the room still was. Of course we've got more Chad trolls in the game now which is annoying as fukk. IDC what Gun Media said about the AI Jason not acting right, they should've found a way to make single player offline counselors work. It would've been the GOAT game if you and some friends/bots could escape Jason without having to be online. Playing as Jason offline gets boring after a while.
