COVID ruined the runs
:mjcry:

Just did my first run on hardwood in over a year last week :blessed:Went 1-2 in 3 games :ehh: had the game winning assist in the only dub

My handles which were suspect are done. :damn:

My shot is still there after warming up :whew:

Wasn't trying to fight for rebounds though :whoa:

And since COVID hit, I've turned 30 so this thread is suddenly relevant to me :dead:

I played a half court for the first time since Covid

:francis: I never ever my life felt fatigued playing my first game in half court pickup.

I’ve been working out and definitely am in better shape than I was in my late 20s but my basketball conditioning is gone. Gonna head out to rec later to show these dudes how to run the point.

At 31, I still play but I just play to sweat, I hate those idiots that think I am going to go hard in the post, I want to play defense, shoot the ball, post. I dont even leave my feet for rebounds. Screw getting injured.

My guys would be coordinating the hoop sessions in a group chat all last year... during COVID before the vaccine. I would just be reading through the messages sad :(

My wife was pregnant last year so yeah, that and a pandemic going on shut shyt down for me.

I’m 37 now… even though I’m in better shape now… I’m scared of a real injury.

Im also 37.
Had a convo with my old man the other day, put shyt in perspective, has me :mjcry: a week later.
He was talking about his close friend, they're both in their 60s. Guy was working out, fell down, broke his collar bone. He had to have surgery, and he's trying to get back into some light cardio now maybe 2 months later.
So I was like, how's he doing? Cause I know him too, we talk in passing every now and then.
And my father goes, hes on the mend but you can tell he won't get back to 100, that's what happens...
So I
:dahell:
What do you mean, thats what happens?
And he goes, once you get to a certain age, maybe some time after 40, you never come all the way back from life's set backs. You get knocked down just like when you're a kid, but it takes something extra out of you, and you wake up and you say, Im fully healed, but I'll never be fully myself again, because there's no repairing this body to what it used to be.
:to::to::to:
Im out of this thread, never coming back to it.
Anyone bumpin this shyt another decade from now needs a permaban.
Mods, lock this up and send it to the rafters, I don't want to talk about it anymore.
Mel, Char, Femme, Kobe, everyone else, nothing but love.

Man fukk basketball. I've said it multiple times but think I mean it this time. I'm 39. Played in two leagues right before covid hit. That was my first time playing in about 3 years due to a fracture in the ankle and then a surgery a year later to clean up bone spurs. I couldn't shoot for shyt in the first season plus played on a team with a bunch of selfish fukks that just kept jacking threes despite them shooting like 20%. No off ball movement, no picks. Half the team wouldn't even cross halfcourt when it came time to play D. I was still solid on D and passing though. Second league I came out killing. Much better team, I was hitting 3 three pointers a game, a block or two a game and mad steals. Then Covid hit.

Didn't play for a year. Joined a league again finally so we met to play some pickup ball to get to know each other. In one session took a shoulder to the jaw that caused a loud cracking sound, could barely open my mouth after. Hyper extended my knee trying to drive to the basket after getting hit in the air. With the way I landed I fell knee first with the other knee to the ground causing it to bust open and start leaking. Should've stopped playing then but figured I'd finish out the game. fukked around and rolled each ankle on back to back plays. This was all like two weeks before going to Jamaica too. So I was just going to say fukk it and not play no more.

Came back from Jamaica and played. Half our team didn't show so I had to play the whole 40 minute game even though I hadn't played in a month. Going up for a rebound and collided with somebody in mid air and went down flat on my back which somehow caused my knee to start hurting. Then rolled my ankle again. Now sitting here barely able to walk lol. This for sure my last season playing.

I'm shooting at the park with my wife and she says she wants to see me dunk. Of course I can't look like a bytch but if I attempt this and get stuffed by the rim I might have to get a divorce :mjcry:

So I do it and successfully make the weakest 2 handed dunk ever. My ankles burned going up and felt like they shattered when I landed :flabbynsick:

Of course she didn't know all that

Actually wouldn't be so bad if my handles wasn't complete and utter trash. My left hand was weak but if somebody was overplaying me I could blow past them. Now I can't even do that with my right hand. Had a steal where my old self would've easily taken it down for a layup. I lost the dribble and had to back it up and run some halfcourt offense smh.

fukk that basketball shyt. I moved on to non athletic white people sports like hiking and biking.
I used to play everyday from 13-14 until 32, that’s when I landed on my ankle trying to get a fast break layup. Never even went to the doctor. last time I played I rolled my left ankle playing at lunch, tried to keep going because I’m not soft then rolled the other trying to crossover :sadcam:I went left and my ankle was like:mjtf:why would you put my 35 years old ass through that type of quick cut :hubie:so now I’m on the ground with two sore ankles and I still have to go back to work. :beli: I finished the game, played a few more time that month but that was 3 years ago. I’m 37 and over it
