Black men to be totally unaffected by mainsteam society's ( you know dominate White society) stand of physical beauty and attraction?

With that said Im sure you already understand that blacks have their own variations on beauty as supposed whites. However
its still somewhat washed at times.

Im never really shocked when women Black or otherwise prefers or at least leans toward a lighter skinned or even white male mate. I mean afterall Its a white society and relatively anti Black.

I think the real question is really anything that can be done outside shaming the said person or parties?

Black people in general can get affected by the Eurocentric standard of beauty depending on how much they are exposed to, and whether or not they are later conscious of the negative impact of it. I really wasn't exposed to eat (like a 2.5 on a level 1 through 10), because of my upbringing. The difference with men and women is that women see the non black guy is the ultimate protector and provider. A lot of princess movies and romance movies that a lot of young black girls are exposed to have non black men as the hero. So it is no surprise when a see a black women prefer that. With men non black women are painted as feminine, soft, well spoken, kind and etc so if you grow up around a mother that has self hate issues and that is what you are mostly exposed to it is no surprise when I see young black boys/males acting this way. I have notice that black men may speak about black women, and black women campaign harder for non black mates.
For this to really change black people, especially in America need to be in charge of our media.

I believe both are equally effected. However more women that are non-black are open to dating black men. I could be completely wrong but I think many women of all races tend to follow the lead of the men. Many white women per say wouldn't date a black man due to the negative backlash they would get from their white counterpart.

I think many black women are open to dating men of other races but men of other races who are open to dating black women are far lower. Just like the young black girl seeing Disney films and what not, the non black folks are viewing blacks act a certain way on the the news/ movies/ music/ television. To me it boils down to reciprocal mutual feeling

nicca, what?
Black women are not able to or allowed to be delicate, super feminine, protected, damsels in distress like our white counterparts. We are not placed on a pedestal of ultimate femininity.

Instead because of oppression and white supremacy, we are faced with obstacles that force us to be strong and resilient which is a different type of beauty. Not the one that is celebrated in mainstream media.

A black woman in a damsel in distress situation, is considered lazy and naive or even stupid. A black woman taking control of her life, triumphing through issues, is seen as independent and strong which often gets twisted through sexism and racism as masculine and domineering/unwilling to submit.

Though black men also suffer from the lazy stereotype, in the second situation where they take an active role benefit from the idea of masculinity in assertiveness and ambition. A black man who takes the victim role isn't likely to be respected.

A white woman who takes the victim/damsel in distress can rely on her privilege, desirability and status to be rescued or :cape:d for.

Black women often can't really win in either situation.

Sometimes tho, especially in the conscious community. A black woman in who takes an active role in her destiny, who doesn't sit on her laurels, can be seen as a queen. We just have to fight the stereotype of Sapphire.

Promote black love and believe in it I guess. Slavery did a number on us, especially those slave auctions. The more successful, happy black marriages the better off we are imo.

I aint just slavery. It Aint a place on earth where dark people hold the same status as light ones. All day everyday we see white women as objects of desire.

My point is unless you live in a box this effects your subconscious as well as your mating decisions.

I was born in Nigeria and came to America when I was around 4. I was raised in America. When i was younger my parents were very strict when it came to what we watched. My family is not materialistic so we only had 1 tv and our cable wasn't all that lol. My parents mostly watched the TV, so I read a lot, and got into other stuff. I was not really exposed to white media. I grew up around mostly black people, but my parents were also strict about who my siblings and I hung around. Nobody in my immediate family practices that good hair/light skin stuff. My mother is Mariah Careys complexion and my father is Wesley Snipes complexion. They never said anything rude about our complexions or our hair types. When it comes to good hair and light skin I think black mothers tend to promote that and putting in the childs mind. I rarely hear black fathers talking about "my child has good hair. My child is light skin! yay!". I notice that there are black young men and boys of today who say those things, but most were raised in single mother households or in a house where the father has no voice. I have an older brother and he does not care about a black womans complexion or hair type. He has been with skinny to thick, short to taller than him, younger or older, alec wek complexion to mariah carey complexion, loosely coiled hair to very kinky hair, buzz cut to long hair, an other stuff. He prefers black women with natural hair.

White women can be damsels, stupid, and put on a pedestal because we live in a racist oppressive white patriarchy. When the men are in control they put what they consider beautiful on a pedestal. Rarely do I see a fat white woman put on a pedestal. Rarely do I see a fat white woman allowed to be a damsel in distress. The only men that view black women as feminine are black men. When there is a patriarchy set up attractive black women can and will be pushed as the standard of beauty. They can be the damsel in distress, and all that extra stuff.
