I don't think I've even posted this entire run

What people don't understand is how the team played at 80% most of the year, rested injured guys etc, to be ready for the cup run again

Skinner is an elite goalie in the league right now, has let in 2 goals over 3 games with a 0.940 +. In only his 3rd full year. Hate him all you want but he's outplayed Hellybuck, even Vasi, now Jake 2 years in a row etc etc.

Walman and Klingberg were massive pickups by the front office... JJ and Bowman made a middle pairing that moves pucks appear out of nowhere. These guys are the biggest difference from the team last year --- we can play shutdown hockey if it's not a run and gun game

We'll need Ekholm back for the rematch in the SCF - this is going to be a war after what went down last year

We are much more than 97 and 29.....

I hope for your own sake that Connor brown and Zach Hyman’s upper body injuries are not that serious. Oilers need second line forwards like them and can’t afford to play without them longterm. They need them for the final against Florida, their likeliest final opponent

Among goaltenders, Stuart skinner is not a big name but he shows up for the big games for sure.

40-year old veteran Corey Perry is playing like he was 10 years younger, and oilers as a team are determined, deeper and better on defense than last year. They are as quick as last year, I thought losing McLeod, Broberg and Holloway, they would lose a lot of team speed and become slower but it’s not the case.

They have gained enough playoff experience since 2021. 1 Stanley cup final and 3 conference final appearances in 4 years. They got that killer instinct now, they know how to put the dagger at the most critical moment, know when to shut down things, and play with poise under pressure. Not too high, not too low. Oilers sense of the moment in games so much more critical than Dallas. Oilers cashing at exactly right times in games and Stars hardly cashing at all

They are on a mission to avenge the Final loss against the panthers last June and it looks like they will face Florida again this year , but this time the oilers will have home ice advantage.

It was expected.

McDrai is Arguably a better duo than Sid/Malkin, and the oilers are more experienced and improved their depth.

Improved defense as well. A stable Skinner was the only thing they needed. This team was always competent goaltending short of being Stanley cup champions. Now they’re getting it from skinner.

Theres not two other players in the world out there that have worked so hard to get a cup, not to mention so many other players on this club contributing too. The results of their success really comes from a complete and total team effort.

The Oilers also have their best defense corps since the dynasty years. They have 8 defensemen( 4 pairings) that can actually draw in. It’s Kind of crazy. 6-7 of them can play in the top 4 in a pinch. All of them can skate, pass, defend, score goals. Disciplined, Physical, mobile and defensively sound in their own zone.

There just isn't an easy and weak D pair to play against ever, for opponents. Thats probably the biggest story of this lineup.

I mean when elkhom went down people were scared but Klingberg and stetcher have stepped up same with kulak

Also aot of guys who didn't have the best season Henrique etc. have elevated their game.

When draisatl resigned I knew McDavid leaving was nill

Oilers could have easily swept every round.

When ekholm will return their defense will be impenetrable

If the oilers win the cup this year maybe mcDavid Will be like « mission accomplished« and feel like he’s done his job of bringing a title for the franchise. I mean he wouldn’t owe them anything after that…if the oilers win it this year he won’t have guilt anymore when he will leave behind the Edmonton chapter of his career on some thanks for the memories shyt, finally hitting free agency next summer and finally realizing his dream of wearing the blue and white Toronto maple leaf jersey.

Nah it's a pipe dream draisatl resigning was the nail in the coffin

His former agent is the president, his former junior coach is the coach

His best friends are Leon and Darnell nurse

His wife is from the area

Cap going up as well

It’s crazy how :snooze: these past few games have been on both series. Oilers defensively specifically the forecheck has snuffed out :flabbynsick: and slow Stars team. It took a very low event game for the Canes to win a game against the Panthers. I think Panthers vs Oilers Part 2 will be good especially since Edmonton will have home-ice. NHL badly needs it, it’s been a bad playoffs imo, I don’t remember it ever being this bad since I’ve been a fan. Even the DPE in the early 2000s had some compelling storylines.
