Oregon and District of Columbia Vote to Legalize Marijuana

Washington, D.C., voters resoundinglypassed a marijuana legalization initiative, The Associated Press projects. With 80 percent of precincts reporting, 69 percent of voters had approved of legalization. A similar proposal won in Oregon, also according to The A.P., winning with 54 percent, with 62 percent of precincts in.

Polls in Alaska, where voters are also considering legalizing marijuana, will close at 1 a.m. Eastern Time Wednesday morning.

In D.C., Congress can overrule voters’ choice to legalize, and Representative Andy Harris, a Republican from Maryland, has signaled his intention to push Congress to do so.

Voters in Florida did not pass a proposal to legalize marijuana for medical purposes. The proposal in Florida, a constitutional amendment, had 57 percent of the vote with 98 percent of precincts in, but needed 60 to pass. The A.P. projected the amendment had been defeated.

I'm in the Chicago burbs. They had a bunch of paper ballot machine but they usually have more than 2 electronic machines.

Eta: There's fukkery going down in Chicago. Some places were suppose to open at 6 and didn't open until 10:wtf:. The judge had to let them stay open for 2 extra hours. Supposedly the jurors who give your ballots got robot called and got sent off so they weren't ready to open. And people wonder why we're one of the worst states in the country:snoop::snoop::snoop:
Breh... Rauner won

What's going to happen now?

Voting for local/state races has more impact on your daily life than presidential races
I'm happy to say that a good friend of mine won her seat for district court judge.
Sucks that Kay Hagan loss though. I guess NC is determined to become more like SC. I really wish more black people voted in these local and state level elections instead of thinking their vote really matter at the presidential level. These CACs know that the game is won at the local level which is why they're always redrawing discticts to fukk you out of your vote.

I didn't really care about midterm & local elections until I took state & local government class a couple years ago. It was a real eye opener.

Not a damn thing...

Breh I'm back in school to become a teacher. When I heard he won I was straight:sadcam:. Honestly they were both bad choices, Quinn was just the lesser of two evils. I just don't trust Rauner. Plus he has a punch-able face.

The news said some people had to wait 8 hours to vote. :wtf: is wrong with this state:snoop:

Crazy, i was just listening to a NPR broadcast about gerrymandering in NC. It's all a calculated game. People have to educate themselves about the process.

NC had a record midterm voter turnout, but I don't know how that breaks down by race. But if most Black people voted, that would swing elections because NC has a high Black population.
