The Wu had some run at that time man......36 Chambers, Tical, 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version, Cuban Linx, Liquid Swords, Ironman, Wu-Tang Forever.......

From 93' to like 98' the Wu couldnt be stopped.

I grew up in the NY area around that time and no one was really banging Bone Thugs like that in the Tri-state area. It was all Wu-Tang, Nas, Biggie and artists like Mobb Deep, CNN, etc......

the tri-state
Source magazine giving Cuban Linx 2, 3 1/2 mics was diabolical. At the very least it was 4 mics. There were too many high points on that album for such a low rating. Even Rae expressed frustration about such a low rating. I remember the biggest criticism in the article was that the album wasn't geared to attract new listeners. :stopitslime:

I will say this tho. CL2 was not all over the streets of NYC like the first one. I honestly think that the budget was drained for a proper roll out and promotion due to the years of delays. That's the only story that makes sense. "New Wu" was a perfect first single but I didn't hear it getting rotation on Hot 97 or Power 105 where one would think that it would. "House of flying daggers" being the next single billed as a J Dilla beat didn't do anything either. Despite all those setbacks CL2 was a great sequel and I feel it is the 2nd best Rae album.
agreed

it was also the last time i remember a legacy artist get bombs dropped on hot9 for an album release
