It's really not though. The series done been revamped a couple times (same numbering) the most recent one 5 years ago in which Al isn't severely burned but still Spawn. And Hell is integral to the series as a backdrop but that's not the point i was making.
That is/was the problem with McFarland tho... stuck in his ways not understanding (or caring) about the market. Unlike Wesley, who took the essence of Blade and got rid of all the trash. i.e. Blade doesn't have to be a black Brit born in a whore house from a bitten prostitute roaming Europe with wooden stakes and a TJ Maxx jacket. Not in the movies.

Like their IS prestige in creating some pIff television and they get to tell a more depth story as they have more time to flesh out storylines,characters..and get viewers a chance to immerse themselves into The world the creators make.
