Again, you pay attention to these nikkas who are basically YOU with a suit and actually get paid to speak his OPINIONS...:stopitslime:

This dude barely played pee-wee football but he's an EXPERT on who's gonna pan out? These dudes no better than you or me giving opinions, it's just ESPiN gives them the platform. Time and time again these nikkas have been proven wrong. (Gabbert best qb?:mjlol:)

Out of the whole let's say 1st round how many picks do these guys get right? One MAYBE two? Probably one of the first 3 too lol...don't listen to these nikkas. I usually pick the first round myself, most I ever hit was 5 and it was honestly luck lol...Look at how many from their "mock draft" they actually get right

you gotta keep in mind, these guys aren't that much more knowledgable than us.

If you watch college football like many of us on here do, and have for a long time, you can spot who's really ready and who's not, just as good OR BETTER, than these guys do. I knew Gabbert wasn't gonna amount to much when I watched him play in college.

Actual position-based scouts may be better than you or I, bu I will NOT admit Mel Kiper or McShay are much more knowledgeable(if at all) than I am. Their track record proves it.

I wish I could get on one of these shows. I would grill Mel and Todd. Id be like: If they are both coming from gimmick offenses, what made Gabbert's football intelligence greater than Cam's Todd?:usure:
So you say Gabbert will first develop as a back up but Cam's the long term project QB with just "potential"?:usure:
I'm not sure where you're getting this from Todd:usure:

I have told people that on here for a while...those cats on ESPN just have the connections.

If we were to have the connections we would do a better job than most of those people on there

I was just thinking today: What did Todd McShay have to do to get where he is?

Mel Kiper was ahead of his time and he's been scouting for the network for literally decades, so he has established himself. But what got McShay into the position, where when he was 29 years old, he was hired as an authoritative voice ... for the biggest offseason event ... in the biggest professional league? Looks like it was just hard work, having done internships with a magazine and getting to ESPN.

I don't really get it, but :manny:

If these draft analysts were any good, these NFL teams would've given them a GM job already.

All of them are idiots and have their own biases and agendas. To hell with them all. :camby:

The reality is, if you cover the NFL draft, specifically:

1) It's impossible to do this with any kind of high accuracy. There are so many players and so many variables.

2) You're always going to be remembered for the ones you get VERY wrong.

3) They're on TV for a reason, they're paid to give STRONGER and MORE OUTLANDISH opinions, for the purpose of driving viewership, readership, and conversation.

The truth is they ARE way more knowledgeable than you or I - because it has been their job to study mass quantities of tape/reviews/stats on these players. They could tell you things about players that most of us would struggle to guess the position of. That, however... doesn't guarantee accuracy.

I think it's more fun to come out here like, "These guys don't know shyt, they just happen to be on TV!" But the truth is, they're extremely well researched... they're just asked to make definitive predictions on a volatile and unpredictable process. Which is why you get all of the boneheaded statements about guys that end up being stars.

I remember when Hoge went IN on Vince Young and predicted he'd be a flop. He got lit on FIRE on this site for about two years, got hammered on the internet, even guys he worked with clowned him... and now, he's right. But was he actually right? Was he wrong and Vince Young just fukked up and lost track of his career?

The one reprieve is that they don't get paid/hired/fired based on the amount of predictions they get right. Once you have the 'expert' title... you get to keep it. :manny:

He was right about the Vikings' reach for Ponder but absolutely wrong about Gabbert.

McShay's perspective: "You get a Blaine Gabbert that has the football intelligence, accuracy and underrated athleticism".

The truth: Gabbert has low football intelligence, shaky accuracy and above average athleticism. Gabbert is often rushed into making throws because of his poor pocket presence and awareness. He routinely misses open receivers and throws late or to the wrong side. When he identifies an open receiver and lets it rip, the resultant ball is pretty and decently accurate. But Gabbert only shows flashes and his career will end up on that note: a flash in the pan.
