I’ll give Kandi some credit. Todd wasn’t a highly in demand man. He was working in production, not balling, and short. But Kandi REALLY liked him. Brehs on here get on women for not wanting to date down, but this is what happens if the marriage goes south. We saw the same with Sherri Shephard, and Mary J. Both married average, less earning men, and it didn’t work.
But let’s not act like Kandi looked the way she looks now back then. She had the personality, and money, but she wasn’t going to pull a Jalen Hurts, a rapper, or a top businessman just based on her looks. Kandi was no LisaRaye, or prime Vivica.
Porsha on the other hand…
She had a decent husband, but didn’t want to act right.
Now she’s with a woman.

Men say women won’t “date down”, but when they do this stuff usually happens. Most men in that dynamic can’t humble themselves and play their role. Trying to boss up within the marriage off the wife’s money and clout. The woman brings the money and comfort to the union, but the man eventually wants to feel like he’s running shyt because…he’s a man.
BUT— you’re also right; Kandi was the average looking, cool woman who was rich. She wasn’t gonna pull wealthy men in her circle.
And the glow up is definitely real because I saw old footage of them/RHOA and Kandi literally looks better and younger now than she did 10yrs ago. It’s actually crazy.
That’s why the topic of beauty is tough because the truth is investing in your looks can drastically change things for a woman. The way she looks now? If she was doing all the beauty treatments and switching her style up like this when she was on that show standing next to Porsha and them…she would’ve definitely stood out a little more.
I am so impressed with her business acumen and think she is brilliant…but sadly she’s going to have to pay a man who made it obvious he wasn’t that attracted to her and was ducking the prenup.

DEFINITELY made disappointing decisions, but she won’t end up bankrolling a man…

I work in marketing for a major insurance company, we do all our commercials, and print work in house, and I’ve worked as model on commercials. (Yes, I am a former male model) Those guys in production don’t make money like that. It’s literally day to day, and they can be fired at any time. Todd was a production manager when he met Kandi. They can make good money, but he wasn’t a millionaire, and probably wasn’t making 6 figures on RHOA. Most people who work in production are not balling, or making 6 figures. They make what a regular person with a good job makes, but they don’t work the entire year, so it depends on what they have going on when a particular production is on hiatus. Most shows shoot 3-6 months. Todd wasn’t anywhere near Kandi back then, and certainly wasn’t a millionaire.
To put this into perspective, Oprah and Stedman were around the same income when they got together. Her money was from work, and his was from family money, and work. Now, he’s still independently a retired millionaire from consulting, but Oprah is a billionaire. As Soon As Possible is a millionaire with his own career, but having babies with a billionaire. He’d still be able to live well without Rihanna’s money. Todd can’t live the same lifestyle without Kandi’s money.

I actually dont think anyone knows why they broke up.
I think the restaurants failing and money issues is whats going on.
People think Kandi is still super paid but she's no longer on RHOA and thats going to affect her other hustles.
You can easily outspend those music royalty checks if your lifestyle depends on being on TV and the attention TV brings your other businesses.

Correct, while she has a lot of songwriting credits, she wasn't a major hitmaker like Babyface, but extremely accomplished in her own right.
Her royalties should be clearing 5 to 10k a month just off classic (Destiny's Child) and new playlists(Ariana Grande/Ed Sheerhan)...
But that's nothing if it is her sole income and is living a high class lifestyle...
