That's the primary reason I probably won't be moving to the South.

The Rent + Gas + Insurance + Car Note = $1600 which is actually more than my Rent + Metrocard living in Queens NY. As stressful and expensive as NY is I would hate driving everywhere and feeling like I can't get around when gas prices go up.

Now if it's a mortgage there's some value in that, but the problem is my career opportunities for my industry are much more diverse and rapid here than anywhere else in the country. These employers act fukked up I need to have back up options.

It's really a catch-22. If you retired that's one thing, but for a young Black working Man the jury is still out. NYC remains the easiest city to pull yourself up out of a rut, You jump on the subway for $112 a month, network your ass off and you can get lucky. I don't know if there's an equivalent opportunity like that in ATL you'd have to rely on the kindness of others, family or friends.
