Mickey Mouse's origin was based on minstrel shows and Blackface.

The infamous Censored Eleven consisted of Looney Tunes episodes that used ethnic stereotypes of Black Americans.

It's ironic how Black children in the '80s, '90s, and early 2000s were indoctrinated to enjoy these cartoons for decades and not realize how, at times, they were mocking us in some fashion or the origins of certain characters were made in bad faith.

We're all guilty of enjoying these shows as adolescents at some point, but knowing the truth, at least for me kinda dims the nostalgia factor.

I always wondered who actually saw Mickey Mouse cartoons and where as a kid

I digitized my Looney Toons DVDs that bought back in the early 2000s and I finally created a playlist and started watching them on random on Saturday mornings after MAX started to delete all of them off of their service.

This is before they banned everything so I have them all going back to the beginning including the black and white days and there's not one time during a watch that I don't

I remember the Blackface stuff because they were still playing those when I was growing up but there's also a lot of stuff that was made during WW II that made fun of the Japanese that is crazy.
As an adult the Speedy Gonzales stuff is real racist and Pepe Le Pew was getting away with SA every episode
