Everything is about assuaging their fears.

Like today vs 50 years ago, we didn’t have phones and TVs attached to our hips. So a foreigner isn’t allowed to call overseas to family or watch non- English tv shows in public cause heaven forbid some 70 year old granny can’t ease drop on your conversation or know what your watching?

I mean obviously they’re on their phone speaking Spanish to do a drug deal and not some mundane crap like planning a birthday party that doesn’t involve your input.

thats fine too people can speak whatever language they want to among themselves, out in public, anyone who cares about that shyt is a clown or a racist. im just talking about the aspects of interaction that involve talking to the public. as long as you can reasonably get by in english, i dont think that's some ridiculous demand or expectation

It definitely is when a white person says assimilate, the issue is why would a black person care?

The Irish and Italians were told to assimilate and now the Hispanics are being told to assimilate....what is the problem? Sometimes it's better to watch from the sidelines

The problem with the logic of the multicultural crowd is they believe in the false premise that Spanish speaking and "brown" people are against white supremacy when in actuality they are very much down with white supremacy

Spanish is the language of Spain and it's former colonies and Spain and it's former colonies have a legacy of anti black racism just like the us, sure it's slightly different that the white supremacy of English speaking colonies due to slightly more racial mixing buts it's still white supremacy through and through

So this defense of Spanish would be like blacks coming to defend the Irish back in the day when they got shat on when the Irish were virulently anti black

Unfortunately the white (american) supremacist are correct that Hispanics need to learn English and that Spanish and bilingualism need to go

This whole assimilate thing is silly. American culture is wide spread and pervasive all around the world. Most people are already exposed to American culture one way or another. If the parents don't speak English, the kids most certainly will.

Then why are people getting upset at brokaw saying something that will and/or should happen, Hispanics should lose their language just Italians and other Europeans did, why exactly is there a problem with that?
