In baseball George Steinbrenner signed players all the time. He didn't give a damn what his organization thought.

There's nothing stopping Khan from signing Kaep if he wants him.
Stop this theatre.

Different beasts altogether. The Yankees sold themselves and George not giving a damn was part of his problem. It took him initially getting banned for life for things to get right.

Khan on the other hand runs a team that hasn't been shyt for years and has a major credibility issue, which is why he needs Coughlin there. If you dump Coughlin to sign Kaepernick and he's NOT your long term solution, good luck getting anyone good to take on the job Coughlin has.

Coughlin isn't any long term solution. He's 103 years old and his football style is outdated.
Steinbrenner was still the driving force between guys like Gooden and Strawberry being on the roster years after he was suspended from the league.

We can't have it both ways here.
We can't pretend that guys like Ozzie Newsome are hamstrung by ownership and also act like Owners like Khan are hamstrung by management.

There are PLENTY of qualified candidates who will take on the job Coughlin has. They won't be apart of the good ol boys network though but is that a bad thing?

But Coughlin is the most credible guy that team has ever had. He's there to clean up a lot of shyt so that whoever comes in after him can lead a franchise that people will take more seriously.

Gooden and Strawberry aren't comparable to Kaepernick. Steinbrenner loved those guys but you know who else loved those guys? New York City. No one was against signing them at no cost. It also benefited Steinbrenner in that he could stick it to the Mets if it worked.

Using that logic, they woulda signed Tebow a long time ago.

This. The Jags aren't in a position for Kap to be the hill they chose to die on. Khan brought in Coughlin to fix it and stepping on his toes would be ass backwards. even if it is addressing their shytty QB situation.
