I had an old Tom & Jerry VHS that was a collection of a few shorts, one of them was racist as hell (Thanksgiving dinner with an ol mammy stereotype making dinner while T&J are getting into their bullshyt) and my dad saw n went ejected that shyt and threw it in the trash :dead:

Core childhood memory lol

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
what were they before? Hanna Barbara?

I thought they were always looney tunes characters.
Hanna and Barbera created Tom & Jerry during their MGM days before striking out on their own to make hits like Scooby-Doo and The Flintstones. When Ted Turner bought MGM in the mid-'80s, he snagged a bunch of cartoons like Tom & Jerry, Popeye, Droopy, and the pre-50s Warner Bros. cartoons. Then, in the late '80s, Warner Bros. bought Hanna-Barbera, so he got both of them. And of course, he already had Merrie Melodies since they were with Warner Bros.

That's basically how we ended up with Cartoon Network.
