It is kinda funny, what made Lara Croft a pop culture icon in the late 90s was a simple concept: Replace Indiana Jones with a hot British chick with big t*ts and guns. Point blank.

There was never really much depth to the character or the plot. She was clearly for male audiences but had a distinct look and sex appeal that gave the IP a strong female following as well (for their cosplays, Halloween costumes, etc). Wasn't deeper than that, and that was ok. Whatever them ass early 00s movies were about, we just remember Angelina Jolie was sexy as fukk.

And so when they tried to re-imagine her in the 2010s as a sorta precursor to TLoU Ellie (i.e. a younger, ultra slim, survivalist, crafting bows n arrows type ish)... imo they fell into the trap of desexualizing her to make her more feminst-friendly when that was never her audience or brand. They should've just kept the OG concept and maybe add a touch of social commentary about it within the more grounded storytelling.

I feel it's the same mistake being made with this show, but we'll see.

Well, maybe she was orginally intended for a male audience, because that's who developers at the time thought of as their main target group. But I know plenty of girls who loved that character, because it was the first time they got to play a bad ass woman in a video game.

I mean... did i not say she developed a strong female following as well?

I personally found it insightful and progressive that women could appreciate and rally around a female protagonist with big t*ts

We need to pivot back to that and end the pointed discrimination

Amazon up by 10 right now

Netflix has done well with their animated stuff. Castlevania, Arcane, Cyberpunk, DMC. The Witcher was solid, but never really blew me away.

Amazon does have Fallout and it looks like a lot coming up.
