FFXV and KH3 really are the gaming industry last hope for triple a blockbuster games. Even if your not interested in these games you should want them to succeed to prove that blockbuster console gaming still has a fanbase in this industry. There are just way better series than Final Fantasy in the JRPG space at this point. Persona, Tales of, Disgaea, Xeno, Trails. All these series have had multiple games in the past few years better than any of the last few Final Fantasy games. I'm not saying I'm not buying XV but I'm not hyped for it. In fact the more they show the more disappointing it looks.

This is because if the mainstream gaming media doesn't spoon feed gamers what JRPG series to play they tend to get overlooked. This is why Persona just broke into the mainstream but has existed since the PS1 days.
The last great Final Fantasy game came out in 2001. Final Fantasy X btw. XII was straight but was the beginning of a decline that's been going on now about 15 years. If XV fails ten Final Fantasy will be doomed not JRPGs in general. The fact of the matter is JRPGs are a pretty niche genre. They've managed to continue to exist despite Final Fantasy's decline in quality and if Final Fantasy dies they'll continue to exist. Most of these games get far more done with far less than the budgets Final Fantasy games get.
