I put the name on the map after Marly and Shan
Q.b. before the Roc had one jam
Before the Death Row and Bad Boy beef
Had streets locked with raw talent, I laugh at the weak

The bridge is over is mad underrated
The way he had the back vocals in between bars while sonnin foes
The Slick Rick flow ....

I never understood why got ur self a gun is kinda under appreciate. I love that joint especially live. It's one of his joints that shake the venue. Great street single
Revisiting this, it was a stand out. A banger from the hook to the lyrics. I really remembered most the words to this.

Something most people don't know

Nas and Amerie recorded like half an album of songs together and only two or three of them ever leaked

it was gonna be this joint promotion leading up to Amerie debut and a few music videos the label wanted them to be like ja and ashanti lmao

Between Nas having personal issues/issues with Columbia records and not fukking with that idea in general it never happened

I can't remember if the video for "Rule" was actually finished or not but that existed in some form

and people already know about the "too much for me" kayslay video drama he was trying get off the label for good at that point

Nas prob has more unreleased music videos than any other artist

"Man Up" is a dope one that came out before her second album, but wasn't on it

Not showing up for a video is like the music version of an NBA player sitting out. It’s the ultimate way to get the label’s attention because they used to spend so much time and money on video shoots. You gotta be there at a certain time because the money is draining by the hour.

Glad Nas was able to get out of there.

Album captured the post 9/11 vibe in a way may not be as appreciated today as it was then. Nas was in a dark place personally and this was a dark, nihilistic album especially for a release of this scale. Closing sequence of My Country, What Goes Around and Every Ghetto was potent

I was in college when Stillmatic dropped & I remember SOHH going crazy with the Jay-Z vs Nas threads especially after Stillmatic dropped! I always said Jay-Z brought back Nas from the dead because in real time a lot of heads thought Nas was falling off after he dropped Nastradamus & took a hiatus until Jay-Z dropped The Takeover. Stillmatic was such an excellent record. That Intro truly is one of the best ever & Ether following that on the album was CLASSIC. So many really good/great songs on Stillmatic. I ranked it a 4.5 mic album when it dropped because The Blueprint is 5 mics & I just don’t think Stillmatic is on that level from front to back. Great memories
