Rumor was Mary J Blige asked for it removed because she didn't want to look like she was on Nas' side during the Jay-Z and Nas beef. She was cool with both parties and didn't want to destroy any relationships.
That was the theory/rumor from back in the day

It took me about 20 yrs to realize, it's my fav Nas song of all time

It captured everything about Nas in that moment...underdog, underappreciated, trendsetter, spiritual, gem dropper, conflicted, confident, supreme spitter
