I think The NY Times ADOS article accidentally stumbled on a gem. I think classism is a big reason for the pushback and the anti immigrant stuff is a red herring for some anti ADOS ppl. I would like to see this angle explored more in depth going forward. Why try to take out ADOS when you can get another group to do it for you. This would all be extremely fascinating if it weren’t so sad.

I think some of the rhetoric towards Black people of international background is easier to sell to people whose circles don't intersect with theirs. Black individuals in academic, professional, social / neighborhood spaces are more likely to have contact with Blacks of different backgrounds as PEERS, than those who don't.

Person with less neutral contact with members of another group might be more inclined to beleive that "they are all this way"

Claiming and being proud of cultural heritage is natural. Some other things are being attached to that by youtubers..(the fearmongering, the lies).The likelihood to believe negative things about other groups might be an easy sell for individuals who aren't where they want to be in life. Well, separating the home makes two people want to do the same thing independently as two people who come together and do something as a unit.
