Niqqas can keep adding to this....but the quirky facts that keeps spilling out of his accolades over the years :wow:

"From 1990 to 1999, Tony Gwynn hit .312 with two strikes (454-for-1457)."

WHO DOES THAT??? :dahell: WHO BATS BETTER THAN 98% OF THE LEAGUE JUST STEPPING INTO THE BATTERS BOX WITH HIM AT TWO STRIKES?

The most tony Gwynn ever struck out in a season was 40

1991 19
1992 16
1993 19
1994 19
1995 15
1996 17
1997 at 37 when you should be flabby and sick tony Gwynn struck out 28 times but batted 372

In 1994 when he was hitting .394 these numbers are disgusting He hit .423 since the all star break. He was hitting .475 during the month of August & .439 in his last 14 games before the strike

:dwillhuh:

Tony Gwynn had more 4 hit games than games where he struck out 2 or more times.

I was bored and this might be inaccurate because I was glossing through the numbers, but best I can tell -- these are the longest hit-less streaks Tony Gwynn had from 1988 through 1999:

1988 - 3 games
1989 - 3 games
1990 - 3 games
1991 - 3 games
1992 - 3 games
1993 - 4 games
1994 - 2 games
1995 - 3 games (technically 2 because on may 27th he was a late defensive sub & didn't bat)
1996 - 3 games
1997 - 2 games
1998 - 6 games (technically 5 because on July 13 he only had 1 AB)
1999 - 2 games

I ended in 1999 because after that he was essentially a part-time player.
And I was moving backwards from there and got tired when I reached 1988, but I suspect he was just as consistent before that.

For most of Gwynn's career, he could be counted on to get a hit in practically every single series he played. I don't know if the average fan can comprehend how amazing that is.
