Chris is a beast at seeing some complex aspect of the action in real time and being ready to break it down before the hi-light is even queued. He see's the nuance that most don't pick up on.
I honestly like Chris as an analyst/color commentator

Tony should look into coaching at some point as well. Gives him the relief of that itch to get out there with the fellas, and he could be a useful defensive coordinator I think. Or at the very least, provide some help for the defense through the eyes of a quarterback

predicting plays doesn't make him a good announcer

You're right but I don't think any play by play guy has ever given insight like Tony did in that clip. He's gotta clean up the analysis but his commentary was compelling as hell.

It's a fresh prospective that football needs if it's going to keep folks watching.

Really right out the gate being on the number 1 team?

The equivalent is being chosen as part of one of the premiere studio shows. Bart Scott & Tony Gonzalez came up right away. Those are top tier exclusive jobs.

Tiki Barbar also got his NBC job at the time right off the bat. Ray Lewis & Shannon Sharp also I believe.

It happens all of the time with former NFL stars.
